Complete the Weapon Masterpiece in Baldur's Gate 3: Walkthrough and Unique Weapon Recipe

Guide to the quest "Complete the Weapon Masterpiece" in Baldur's Gate 3: A recipe for crafting a unique weapon using a smelter and sussur bark.

Content

Quest “Complete the weapon masterpiece”

To start this quest, travel to the Dead Village and head east of the building's basement entrance. You have two ways to get into the basement: break open the dilapidated wooden doors or set fire to the cobwebs that close the hole in the floor on the first floor.

If you choose the second path and go down through the web, you will find yourself next to a locked chest that contains the Blueprints from the High Cliff. Before picking the lock, do not forget to disable the trap. Reading the blueprints will start the quest “Complete the Weapon Masterpiece”.

The blueprints are detailed instructions for creating three types of weapons: a two-handed sword, a sickle and a dagger. It is important to note that the creation of weapons requires a special ingredient - sussur bark. It can only be used with a regular, unmodified blade.

How to get to the Underdark?

The drawings indicate the need for a sussur bark. This rare tree grows in the Underdark. You will travel to this area during the story missions. There are several ways to get into the Underdark:

  1. Through the Defiled Temple in the Goblin Camp. Talk to priestess Guts and agree to her help. She will lead you to a secluded area where you can kill her and take the key to the door located in the same room. You will also have to defeat Polma, the priestess' bodyguard, and solve the moon puzzle to unlock the back of the hall.
  2. Through the Whispering Abyss, standing on the bridge of the web over the purple abyss and setting it on fire.
  3. Through the Overgrown Tunnel under Aunt Ethel's Tea House. Put on the Whispering Mask to go through the hidden door to the teleporter. The entrance is in an area with traps after the waterfall.
  4. Via the Zhentarim Sanctuary in Waukeen's Refuge. You will learn about it during the quest “Find the missing cargo”. As a reward for your help, the thieves will provide you with a password to enter. Inside the shelter, behind a false wall, there is a lift.

Search for sussur bark

In the Underdark, you have to find the Sussura tree. After choosing the path through the Zhentarim Sanctuary, you can find a tree in the western part of the location, in the ruin circle “Underdark - Sussura Tree”.

To collect Sussur Bark, you will have to defeat four Hook Horrors and climb a tree. The bark looks like a piece of wood with a notch. It is important not to confuse it with a flower.

Use of the melting furnace

Return to the basement of the Extinct Village and fire up the Smelting Furnace. Add sussur bark to the oven and turn on the heat with the Bellows. When the flames turn blue, you can create a rare weapon - a two-handed sword, dagger or sickle - from ordinary blades.

Please note that ordinary, gray items are needed to create weapons. Also remember that you can only craft one weapon at a time, so choose carefully based on your playstyle.
