On the Sunrise Road you will find a cave (X:40 Y:626) where two people will find themselves surrounded by gnolls.
Fight with gnolls:
Place your characters on nearby hills.
Use the psionic power of an illithid parasite to enchant a gnoll warlord.
Conversation with Rugan:
After the victory, talk to one of the survivors named Rugan.
If your charisma is high, you can convince him to give you the cargo (you will lose the opportunity to get Harold's crossbow).
Rugan warns that the cargo must not be opened and recommends that it be taken to Baldur's Gate.
Opening a chest:
Use thieves' tools to open the chest. If you have high dexterity, you will be able to do this.
Inside you will find the “Smooth Fall” potion and an Iron Vial, which may interest Gale.
Finding Zhentarim and Zaris Hideout:
On the Sunrise Road (X:112, Y:612) find the house next to the barn.
Make steps from the boxes to get to the roof.

Use it on the cabinet to enter the Zhentarim hideout and find Zaris.
Options with chest:
Give the unopened chest to Zaris at the Zhentarim Hideout to receive gold and the Harold Crossbow.
