We can start this quest in the Underdark, having received it after communicating with the Dvergar named Geh Ugolek, located in the “Underdark - Shore”. He asks the player to find the escaped svirfneblink and return the boots to Sergeant Trinn. Please note that you can only receive this task if you choose not to attack them on the spot or say that you are not part of the Absolute.
As your conversation with him continues, you can ask what the man looks like (a deep gnome with really nice boots), which is a clue. After this, if you choose "I'll help" or "You expect a reward", Will will not approve of having him in your party, so choose "It's your concern". You can still complete the quest.
Finding a little gnome is not difficult. This little gnome lives in myconid colonies northeast of Decrepit Village. Simply follow the northeast exit from the village northeast until you reach a large open area with exploding mushrooms. Here, approach the northwest corner to find some myconids guarding the entrance.
Here you will have several options, and they all lead to the same thing: give you access to the colony, but he will want to see you. This is another quest, so we'll ignore it. Instead, head inside the colony and go to the waypoint. From the waypoint, head west up the large red mushrooms to find a large open area. Here you will find Tulla standing next to Spav.
Talk to her to start a new side quest.
After the quest above you will receive the boots (she either gave them to you, or you stole them, or you killed her).
Sergeant Trinn is located in Grimforge (use the Dwargar boat in Deepholm to Shore to get there).
Once here, head south from the waypoint and follow the path south-southeast until you reach a large area with several duergar and some deep gnomes. One of the duergar moving around these deep gnomes is Trinn.
After talking with her, you will have the opportunity to return the stolen boots to her. Please note that if you return them, you will lose them, but will also receive the item as thanks. You can only choose 1:
- Sturdy Chain Shirt
- Ring of effort.
Of course, you can simply ignore this option and keep the boots (you may have to fight her later after completing the quest, since she will be dead). Of course, there is another option: give her the boots, get the reward, and then kill her to get the boots back. If you do this, you will have to kill so many duergar, so only do this if you are confident that you will win.
