Demon's Souls remake for PlayStation 5
FromSoftware classic Demon's Souls is getting a next-gen remake from Bluepoint Games on PlayStation 5, as revealed on Sony's "Future of Gaming" livestream.
Soul enthusiasts will have plenty to get excited about when the PlayStation 5 launches, as Bluepoint Games is taking the souls of the 2009 Demon and upgrading it for Sony's upcoming system.
The trailer for Demon's Souls confirms that it's a remake, not a remaster, and says it's "completely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced".
Oddly enough, this trailer description originally contained more information than it currently has, as indicated on Reddit . This initial description mentioned that the game would have two graphics modes - one for graphical quality, the other for frame rate. Some have suggested that Fractured Mode will allow you to switch back to the original game's graphics, while others have suggested that it can act as some kind of nightmarish difficulty mode.
Back in 2018, Bluepoint stated that its next game, next remake, there will be more than its ambitious Shadow remake. Back to one of the first revelations about PS5, we found out that Bluepoint is actually working on a PS5 game, however details have remained thin since then. Demon's Souls debuted in 2009 and while its popularity was not as widespread as the subsequent Dark Souls series, it was still announced. Demon Souls remained popular with fans long enough for its online servers to exist for years after launch until the servers weren't down in 2018 .
Over the years, Bluepoint has often worked with Sony on numerous remasters and remakes, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Gravity Rush Remastered for PS4.
