John Wick 4 Postponed for a Year Due to The Matrix 4 and Coronavirus
Just one day after it became known that the release date John Wick 4 has been changed, Lionsgate has officially confirmed a new release date for the Keanu Reeves-led sequel! Again, the killer will appear on the screens only on May 27, 2022. John Wick 4 was originally scheduled to release on May 21, 2021.
It is currently in direct competition with Warner Bros. 'fantasy tentpole Dungeons & Dragons , as well as the untitled Disney Live Action film.
Keanu Reeves is expected to reprise his role, as will director Chad Stahelski, who directed all three previous films. The postponement was not unexpected, as production of the tape had not yet begun due to the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, Reeves himself was busy filming The Matrix 4.
Stahelski recently revealed that production on The Matrix 4 was halted after a month of filming. After the coronavirus pandemic is over, Reeves will have to finish the scenes as Neo first, and only then move on to preparing the John Wick stunts.
The director also noted that Reeves would like to expand the universe of John Wick, but so far he planned to withdraw only in the fourth part. Stahelski hinted that part of the new tape will pass under water.
