"John Wick 4" (English John Wick: Chapter 4) is an upcoming American neo-noir action thriller directed by Chad Stahelski from a screenplay. Shay Hutten  (English)Russian and Michael Finch, the sequel to John Wick 3, a series about a former assassin played by Keanu Reeves. The first film in the series, created without participation Derek Kolstad  (English)Russian - Creator of the John Wick character and screenwriter of the previous three films.

Filming took place from June to October 2021. The film release will take place in 2023: on March 23 in Russia, on March 24 in the USA.

Plot

At the end of the third film, John Wick finds refuge with the "Pigeon King", who declares his readiness to start a war against the Board of Clans. The plot details of the fourth tape are kept secret by its creators, but Chad Stahelski warned viewers in one of his interviews that they should not wait for a happy ending.. In addition, Stahelski told reporters that the mercenary Sofia, who acted as Wick's assistant in the third film, will be able to protect her daughter in the fourth tape. The film will be set in several countries: the US, Japan, France, Germany and Jordan.

In June 2020, it was revealed that the film would include several action scenes cut from John Wick 3; these scenes use plot elements from Arthurian legends, Westerns and samurai films

Winemaking

The start of work on the fourth film was announced in May 2019, immediately after the premiere of the third. As in previous films, Chad Stahelski was appointed to the post of director, and Keanu Reeves was approved for the main role. The latter announced in April 2019 that he would play John Wick as long as he was “held by his legs”, and in December of the same year he began training to prepare for filming and even mastered the nunchaku. In May 2020, it became known that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the pre-production stage was suspended. In January 2021, it was reported that the script for the film had been completed and that filming would begin shortly. In May, Rina Sawayama joined the cast, and in June, Donnie Yen joined the cast, Shamir Anderson  (English)Russian, Hiroyuki Sanada, Bill Skarsgård.

Filming began in June 2021 in Berlin and Paris. Some of the scenes were also filmed in Japan and New York. Filming officially ended in October of that year.

On July 23, 2022, the first teaser trailer for the film was released. November 10, 2022 on the official channel of the film company Lionsgate YouTube has the first full trailer, and on December 16 - the final one, which shows the return of John Wick to the desert and a meeting with the head of the underworld - the Elder.

In May 2019, Lionsgate announced the first US release date of May 21, 2021. In May 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed to May 27, 2022. As a result, the final release date for the US film distribution was March 24, 2023.. The film will be released in Russian cinemas on March 23 of the same year with the support of Atmosfera Kino.

Next movie

On May 25, 2020, Derek Kolstad, character creator and screenwriter for the first three films in the series, stated that the producers "need to settle for a fourth or, at the very least, fifth film." In August 2020, work on the fifth film was announced, with plans to begin filming immediately after filming the fourth. However, the production of the fifth John Wick film was subsequently postponed.

In November 2022, the shooting of the spin-off "Ballerina" began in Prague, in which Ana de Armas plays the main role, and Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane took part in secondary roles.
