Eiichiro Oda said that work on the adaptation began back in 2016. In a letter to fans, he shared his thoughts: “Now it may seem like it's coming out of nowhere, but... We've been working hard all this time. And now every organization involved is working in sync. Finally we are here!! Given my life expectancy, I believe this is the last chance to bring One Piece to the world. If we're going to do this, I want to be able to control things while I'm still active."

Netflix, as the largest streaming service in the world, takes a huge responsibility to fans to ensure that the adaptation of "One Piece" lives up to high expectations and maintains the spirit of the original manga and anime series.

The fate of the adaptation will depend on how well it can maintain the quality and atmosphere of the original, while also attracting new viewers who may be less familiar with the world of One Piece.
