In 2006 year Marvel Studios planned to make a film about Nick Fury, for which she hired screenwriter Andrew W. Marlowe^W. It was supposed to be based on the Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD series, and the script was created under the classic image of Nick Fury, since at that time Samuel L. Jackson had not yet become a regular performer of the character. Subsequently, the project was frozen, and later completely canceled.

On October 25, 2020, according to information from Variety, it became known that the studio again launched a separate project about the adventures of Nick Fury, this time in the format of a miniseries for Disney +, already starring Samuel L. Jackson. On December 11, 2020, at Disney Investor Day, Kevin Feige announced the production of Secret Invasion, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn as Nick Fury and Talos, respectively.
