The hugely popular survival horror franchise Resident Evil has been announced as a live-action series on Netflix: here's everything we know about it so far.
Resident Evil was released for Playstation in 1996, a Capcom game created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara. It has since become one of the longest-running horror game franchises of all time, garnering many passionate players.
On August 27, NXOnNetflix tweeted that "a new live-action series based on Capcom's legendary survival horror franchise is coming to Netflix."

Who is making Resident Evil on Netflix?
They show that the series was written by Andrew Dabb, who is best known for writing the popular dark fantasy show Supernatural as well as the comics for Ghostbusters: Legion.
The first two episodes of the series will be directed by Bronwen Hughes, who has previously worked on projects such as The Journey Is a Destination and most notably the similar-toned show The Walking Dead.
Netflix announced that the series will consist of eight episodes, each one hour long. The show is being produced by Constantin Films, which was also behind the six installments of the Resident Evil franchise.
What is Resident Evil on Netflix about?
As the Polygon , the series will feature two timelines, one of which consists of teenage sisters Jade and Billy Wesker who move to New Raccoon City as they slowly learn about the colossal secrets their father keeps.
Another timeline takes place ten years later, when there are only 15 million people left with the T-virus in the world. Now in her thirties, Jade is trying to navigate what the world has become and the consequences of her adolescence.
When is Resident Evil coming to Netflix?
Netflix hasn't announced a release date yet, though it looks like at least the story and first episode have been written and will be titled "Welcome to New Raccoon City."
