There's a lot of new footage in the new Batman trailer - Bruce Wayne and Catwoman team up against the Riddler's army, while he antagonist blows up Gotham.
New trailer "Batman" shows more of Catwoman and Bruce Wayne fighting and reveals more about the Riddler's plans, including his efforts to blow up Gotham.
Robert Pattinson is set to take on the role of Bruce Wayne in the 2022 film directed by Matt Reeves. He will be joined by Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Batman will follow the early years of Bruce Wayne's Fighting Crime in Gotham and take place outside of the main DCEU continuity.
First trailer last year Batman was shown on DC FanDome and has since been pushed back to 2022.
Warner Bros. clearly betting on the grand return of Caped Crusader - the studio currently has two spin-offs batman, planned for HBO Max, with one focusing on the Gotham Police Department and the other on Farrell the Penguin's origins.
Much of the Riddler's plan "Batman" still remained a mystery. While his motives - and their connection to Bruce Wayne's family - are still unknown, his overarching purpose has become clear. The Riddler wants to destroy Gotham, and if the trailer is any sign, he has a dedicated army of like-minded followers to help him do it. There's also plenty of footage of Catwoman and Batman fighting these henchmen, highlighting another important component of the trailer.
The relationship between Bruce Wayne and Catwoman is one of the most iconic of all time, and with Kravitz taking over the role, the dynamic between her and Pattinson will be one to watch. Of course, it won't be all about love. However, it is clear that at some point in "Batman" Catwoman and Bruce Wayne will form an alliance of sorts. Whether it sticks or not remains to be seen, but the cat-and-mouse relationship between the pair will certainly be the highlight of the upcoming film.
