Jason Momoa Rumored to Star in Netflix Prequel: The Witcher
Following the success of The Witcher's debut season, Netflix has reportedly set their sights on Jason Momoa to helm their prequel. The Witcher: Blood Origin».
Netflix's The Witcher was consumed by the masses, with over 76 million viewers watching Henry Cavill play Geralt of Rivia in just the series' debut month.
This popular reception and astronomical viewership numbers led to the announcement of a prequel series called The Witcher: Bloodline. The series takes place approximately 1200 years before Geralt and aims to tell the public about the origins of the Witchers.
But with The Witcher Season 2021 set to air sometime in XNUMX, fans are eager to know more about the prequel… Or more specifically, who will be in it.
Jason Momoa to lead The Witcher: Bloodline?
Reliable industry insider, Daniel Richtman, has previously stated that Netflix is aiming to make Momoa the main character in Blood Origin. Although this is yet to be confirmed as the show is still in the very early stages of pre-production.
However, the Aquaman star added fuel to the rumors by sharing fan art of him and Cavill side by side with her Instagram story.
The fan rendition shows Cavill - as Geralt of Rivia - with his back to Momoa, who is dressed as a man should look like at the beginning of our era. The 41-year-old signed the piece, tagging his former DC co-star and adding nothing other than "what's up bro."
Naturally, this led to wild speculation about whether or not Momoa would actually play a major role on the continent. And while Netflix hasn't released the full casting list yet, fans will certainly be hoping that Momoa will lead the all-star cast.
If Aquaman's star is up to the mark, he'll have to hold his own after Henry Cavill's famous role as Geralt of Rivia. Who knows, maybe others will follow as it seems the DC Universe has a wealth of talent suited to Cintra.
