Walkthrough "On the Edge"

Once you have regained control of Aloy, start making your way through the next set of waypoints, engaging vehicles and gathering parts and resources as you see fit.

At some point, you will reach a fork in the path where the game allows you to choose which objective you want to continue on. If you go right you will enter Chainscrape. If you go left, you will start looking for Erend. Since the Chainscrape hike is the first on the list, we will go there first.

Approach the gate, you will be met by two guards with whom you can talk. Once inside, we will be greeted by a familiar face, Petra. Petra would love to catch up with a pint of cold beer, but first we need to upgrade our bow. So, it's time to look for a workbench, which, by the way, is located just at the place where we regain control over Aloy. From the workbench menu, select "Weapon Upgrades", then "Hunting Bow", then "Upgrade at Level XNUMX". We can now create Acid Arrows, a type of arrow that leaves enemies in a corrosive state, making them more vulnerable to regular and advanced arrows.

Now we can take care of the second objective of this mission and go in search of Erend.

Exit Chainscrape through the main gate you entered through and head towards Erend's last known location. As usual, decide if you want to engage the machines and collect materials or run past them. Eventually you will reach a field with several shock tripwires. The Ozeram Seeker is stuck in the ruins, hiding from freeloaders. You can lure cars into tripwires to disable them, or use any other method to get rid of them.

Oseram Trapper will now join you on the ground and you can talk to him. You may want to collect some parts and resources before proceeding. His name is Terlis, and he's kind enough to give us a new weapon, the Tripcaster, for free. You can then ask him more questions or choose "I need to keep moving" to continue. Before he leaves, he will tell you about the Hunting Grounds, the very trials from Horizon Zero Dawn.

Get to the next marker just a few meters south of where we talked to Terlis, along the way. Once there, activate your Focus and then highlight the tracks. The tracks begin exactly where the quest marker is.

Follow the purple footprints and silhouette and keep following them until you find Erend. Time to kill some cars. One of them is a new vehicle type: Acid Bristleback, which is weak to electricity damage and strong to acid damage. Therefore, avoid using Acid Arrows. Instead, while remaining hidden, place a few Shock Tripcasters in the area and then lure them into them with a rock throw.

As for the Reaver, weaken it with Acid Arrow and then just get rid of it with normal arrows. Alternatively, you can sneak up on him and perform Silent Strike. Don't forget to loot the cars when the area is cleared.

Now talk to Erend. While talking to Erend, the game introduces you to Flashpoints, emotional moments that allow you to express Aloy's personality in any way you see fit. Flashpoints do not block you from loot, so choose whichever option you like best.

Now we need to go and investigate the source of some of the explosions we just heard. Start your journey to the main map marker.

On your way to the source of the explosions, you will encounter other Bristlebacks. You can easily kill them stealthily by running up behind them and pressing (even if they have a red alarm, they will be distracted by other people, and until they see you, they will succeed). After everyone is defeated, you can talk to an Oseram worker named Belna.

Talk to Belna and choose any conversation option you like, or feel free to leave it. Return to Studious Vuadis. You can either run towards the marker or quickly get to the nearest campfire.

Now go to Ulvund, who is also in the Chain Scraper, at the bottom of the settlement. After talking to him, you will also receive the side quest "The Bristlebacks" (available at level 7). You now also get access to merchants that allow you to buy new equipment, restock resources, and sell unwanted items. Stitchers sell new protective clothing, Hunters sell powerful new weapons, Herbalists sell valuable potions, Chefs sell skill-enhancing food.

Return to Vuadis to see him off.
