World of Warcraft

Since pre-patch 9.0.2 will be released on November 18th, you can expect to be familiar with these changes in time for the launch of Shadowlands. We've collected all the changes published by Blizzard for you below, breaking them down into each class for readability.

In this small update before the patch, Blizzard did not release a separate list of notes for it. Instead, they added these changes to the previous list of notes, highlighting them in gold to indicate further changes.

On November 16, 2020, a minor patch was also released, primarily for Battle for Azeroth. We have also included them here in their respective categories.

Description Updates

The Coming of Death - Limited Time Event

Shortly after the release of the pre-expansion update, you will be able to answer the call, defend Azeroth from the Scourge and fight back against the armies of the undead. Players have to complete the task of capturing the foothold in Icecrown, where the border between the world of the living and the realm of the dead has collapsed, and prepare for a future journey to the Dark Lands. This limited-time event will end with the release of the Shadowlands expansion, so be sure to take part in it and earn special rewards.


Level, Item, and Stat Changes

We've reworked the level, item, and stat systems to speed up character development and make sure each new level matters. Level 120 characters will become level 50 characters after the release of the content update.


New character customization options

The process of creating characters began to play with new colors thanks to the new user interface and advanced options for customizing the appearance. New options include the ability to choose eye color, new skin/fur color options and hairstyles.

New features can be accessed at barbershops across Azeroth, and druids can customize the look of their animal forms. There will also be a feature to change the gender of the character. All appearance settings can be changed directly in the game at any convenient time, and the appearance change service cannot be purchased in the store. 


New introductory part of the game

Isle of Exiles

Isle of the Exiles is a new introductory part that will introduce you to the basics of playing World of Warcraft and important elements of the mechanics of the chosen class. If you have just started playing World of Warcraft and are creating or developing a character for the first time, you will automatically start your journey through Azeroth with an introductory part. If you are familiar with the game or have developed characters in the past, then you can skip the introductory part and start the game as a level 1 character in your race's starting zone.

Upon reaching level 10, beginner players will continue playing Battle for Azeroth, after which they will move on to Shadowlands. 

Campaigns in the past

Players who are already familiar with Battle for Azeroth content and have at least one character leveled to level 50 will be able to level up their other characters in other expansions through campaigns in the past. This new feature allows you to level up zones such as Northrend and Pandaria to match your characters' current levels, so they can level up from level 10 to level 50 and experience the story of the expansions the way they were originally meant to. Contact Chromie at the embassies in Stormwind and Orgrimmar and select the add-on in which you would like to develop your character. If you want to change the selected add-on, just talk to Chromie again.

Chat for beginners

Once you've created a character and started playing World of Warcraft, you'll automatically be connected to the Newbie Chat channel, where you'll be able to chat with other newbies as well as experienced players from your faction to offer advice as your character progresses in the starting zone called Isle of Exiles. . New players and mentors will be able to recognize each other by the icons in the chat and above the heads of the characters - these indicators will not be visible to anyone else. Upon reaching level 20, novice players will be ready to continue the adventure on their own and will no longer be able to use the novice chat.

If you are an experienced player and want to help beginners master the in-game features of World of Warcraft, head to the embassy in Stormwind or Orgrimmar and talk to the Mentor Recruiter. To become a mentor, you must meet a number of requirements:

Achievements

Allied Races

Classes

Common

  • Mirror Image is no longer a talent - all mages now unlock this ability at level 44. The damage dealt by Mirror Images has been greatly reduced. All Mirror Images can now cast Frostbolt.   • All mages can now use the following abilities.

    • New Talent Focus Magic: Increases the chance of your target's spells to critically strike by 30% for 5 minutes. When the target scores a critical hit, your spells have a 5% increased chance to critically hit for 10 sec. Cannot be applied to yourself. The maximum number of targets is 1.
    • Shimmer cooldown increased from 20s to 25s
    • Rune of Might now places a Rune of Might on the ground for 15 seconds. (was 10 seconds) and has the additional effect of casting Arcane Power, Combustion, or Icy Blood to also create a Rune of Power near you.

Death Knight

Common

  • Runic Strike is no longer a talent for Blood Death Knights. This ability, which players will use as Death Knights progress, now consumes runes and allows you to accumulate runic power. Runic Strike will be replaced by Decay Strike, Heart Strike, and Howling Blast (depending on specialization).
  • Switching weapons now causes the Death Knight to gain the Off Balance debuff for 30 seconds. does not allow you to get gain bonuses from runes.

  • Death Strike damage increased by 21%.

  • Water pet damage over time increased by 25%.
  • The damage of Money Meteor and Twilight Meteor has been reduced by 10%.
  • The cooldown of Stinky Goo Can has been increased to 2 rounds.
  • At the start of combat, Righteous Inspiration is disabled until the cooldown has passed.

PvP

  • Season 4 of Battle for Azeroth will end with the release of the pre-Shadowlands patch. During the off-season break, players will still be able to play dungeons unlocked with Mythic Keystones. These dungeons will use Season 4 mods and will not be able to earn achievements. In addition, you will be able to participate in rating PvP battles based on your rating in Season 4. However, it will no longer be possible to earn awards and titles.
  • All characters on an account can use all gladiator mounts, including those from past seasons, acquired on that account.
  • The honor talents Gladiator's Medallion, Adaptation, and Relentless have been removed from the game. In Shadowlands, the ability to dispel CC will once again be provided by a powerful PvP trinket that can be purchased with Honor from Aneka Mele in the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar or Alice Fisher in the Chambers of Heroes in Stormwind City.

User interface

  • The direction indicator will now appear on the screen towards the objectives of the tasks, which will reduce the need to open and close the map.

  • When using the self cast key, friendly spells that affect the specified area are cast near you.
  • ➤Now you can make changes in the key assignment menu in the shortcut key assignment mode by hovering the cursor over a command or button on the interface panel.
  • The Adventurer's Guide search field can now search for boss abilities.
  • The Item Sets tab has been removed from the Adventurer's Guide.
  • The party leader can now start a countdown using the party management menu functions or the /countdown 10 chat command.
  • The character select screen will now display notifications of new mail from players and from the auction house.
  • ➤Moved UI scaling settings from "Advanced Settings" to "Graphics" in the settings menu.
  • ➤New features have been added to the interface settings menu to make it easier to interact with the game:
    • ➤Added features to avoid motion sickness.
    • ➤Added "Screen Dimming Replacement" function, when enabled, all flashes of light on the whole screen become a dimming.
    • ➤Added support for keybinding, movement and camera and cursor control for gamepads.
    • ➤Subtitles in videos are now enabled by default.
  • The ability to join a Battle.net group voice chat channel from the game client has been temporarily disabled.
  • Updates and visual changes have been made to the Creators window for the Shadowlands expansion.

Events in the game world

  • The Brawler's Guild is temporarily closed. The site for amazing brawls will continue to work in the future.

WoW Companion app

  • Legion quests and followers are now available in the app.
  • ➤Favorite characters can now be assigned on the character selection screen.
  • WoW news will now be published in the app.
  • ➤With the release of the Shadowlands expansion, players will have the ability to manage followers and send them on adventures after opening the appropriate system in the game.
  • After the release of the Shadowlands map, world quests and summons from this expansion will begin to appear when a player joins a covenant shrine.
