For those who may not know, Mayhem Mode is unlocked when players complete the main campaign of Borderlands 3.
The unlocked mode gives players a much more difficult challenge when moving into the wasteland, which comes with a buff that's too tempting to pass up.
Another improvement that the Mayhem Mode 2.0 update brings is that players no longer need to visit the pedestal in Sanctuary III to activate this new mode, instead an option can now be found in the ECHO device menu as a dedicated tab for easier access.
Light modifiers are an easy asset to master, like Big Kick Energy, which increases damage, recoil, and weapon spread, while the Galaxy Brain modifier increases the size of enemy heads for large hitboxes. The Medium, Hard, and Very Hard modifiers also add various elements to the game, such as Floor is Lava, which forces players to always stay on the move while avoiding AOE.
Revenge of the Cartels Event Details
First of all, this event is absolutely free and runs from April 23rd to June 4th. It offers a whole new area, new enemies, new challenges, and a bunch of loot for players to turn on but not limited to.
Gearbox tells us about the new event: “In his constant exploration of human customs, your saurian crew member Maurice has become tangled up in the wrong crowd and is now indebted to Joy Ultraviolet, the master player of the Eridium cartel. In order to save Maurice Scaleskin, you'll need to take on Joey and his gang of underlings at Villa Ultraviolet, a luxurious hideout overlooking a tropical paradise."
When players first start participating in the Revenge of the Cartels event, there will be a repeatable quest. This quest can be found in Sanctuary III. Completing this step is vital in order to get to Villa Ultraviolet and take the fight directly against the neon enemy.
Revenge of the cartel enemies
After players successfully maneuver into Ultraviolet, they will encounter hordes of Eridium cartel members who have 3 separate factions:
- CryptoSec
- The Burnt Ends
- The Purpatrators
Each faction has a special Underboss that players will need to take out before starting the fight with Joy Ultraviolet. Destroying these powerful foes offers Vault Hunters powerful loot in exchange for defeating them, making repeatedly obtaining this particular event incredibly valuable when hunting for new and improved gear.
Revenge of the Cartel Seasonal Rewards
As with all events, seasonal rewards will be given to players who are dedicated to the latest content drop. Players will also be able to track their progress with their ECHO device for those who want to pay extra close attention to where they are in terms of unlocking shiny new cosmetics.
Here is the breakdown:
3 trials | VECTOR Graphics ECHO Device Skin |
6 tests | Retro Outrunner Weapon Keychain |
10 tests | Room decoration |
14 tests | Hotline Pandora Vault Hunter Head |
18 tests | Death by Filigree Crypt Hunter |
And that's everything you need to know about Mayhem Mode 2.0 and the Revenge of the Cartels event coming April 23rd to Borderlands 3 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC players.
