YouTube Will Show Ads In All Videos

adds

YouTube has made changes to the terms of use of the platform so that ads will appear in all videos, regardless of the content creator's choice and whether or not they participate in the YouTube Partner Program.

On November 18, YouTube made a small but important change to its rules. This will allow the company to display ads on all videos, not just those that are part of the YouTube partnership. The change was announced in a note published in official company blog .

In addition to potentially more ads viewed by users, this change also means YouTube users will no longer be able to make monetization decisions for their work , which can be very annoying for some creators - many of them prefer to make money from their work in an alternative, usually more stable way (for example, through Patreon or cooperation with sponsors). They often turn off monetization on their videos to avoid forcing viewers to watch ads.

YouTube ensures that this move is part of a wider set of changes that includes, among other things, ads in the so-called home feed. . This is supposed to "make it easier for artists to profit from their work and reach an audience" - at least, this is the official reasoning of the company in this matter. In practice, this is probably a common thing - to earn even more.

This change is currently being rolled out in the US. In other regions of the world, the new rules will come into force in mid-2021.
