PUBG takes a cue from Fortnite and brings back the original Erangel map

Classic card PUBG:Battlegrounds Erangel, which started the battle royale craze, will return for a limited time next month, PUBG Studios announced today.
Fortnite: Battle Royale was released in 2018 amid an outrageous period of hype and popularity PUBG, and now it seems PUBG will repay the favor, drawing inspiration from Fortnite.

“We're going back to where it all started, but with some modern twists!” PUBG Studios announced this in a new blog post announcing the return of the map. “Erangel Classic retains the essence of early Erangel, its distinctive look and feel, while delivering the enjoyable gameplay experience players have become accustomed to.”
As part of the return of Erangel Classic, the original map will also include classic foggy and rainy weather that appears randomly, the return of tabletop weapons to the starting island, and even a vintage world map, minimap, match start timer, and "tacky font and graphics." which the studio calls "a nostalgic trip that takes you back in time."
The classic map will also have the classic reduced recoil, and the almighty Tommy Gun will once again be found in airdrops. Essentially, it's like teleporting back to the game's heyday in 2018, when it was at its worst in Early Access.
PUBG truly ushered in the era of battle royale gaming. And then she appeared Fortnite, and soon Apex Legends, and before we knew it, BRs were in vogue. Their prevalence has subsided a bit, but many of them still exist and continue to be updated to this day, such as Warzone and many others.
Erangel Classic will return to PUBG on May 14th, but will only be available for two weeks before disappearing again on May 28th.
