All World's End Map Changes in Apex Legends Season 4.

Design director Apex Jason McCord went into detail about the changes to the map on EA website , explaining the goal of the developers to offer players "new ways" to interact with the Royal battle.

planetary harvester

Landing at World's End, you will immediately notice a planetary harvester, with the help of which Hammond Robotics extracts precious metals from the planet's core for unknown purposes. The red beam is visible from anywhere on the island, allowing players to navigate easily without losing sight of the center of the map.

Everyone who played World's End in Season 3 knows firsthand that the fuel depot is a dangerous place, especially towards the end of the match. Since it is located in the heart of the map, changes to this area will significantly diversify the gameplay of most matches.

The tiered design of the harvester is unlike anything else in World's End, so you'll discover exciting new possibilities. Fights tend to be isolated, with squads sneaking in through long corridors leading into the center. It will be a little easier for the Legends to predict the interference of other units in the firefight, so it will most likely be easier to defend.

Considering where World's End is located, it's no surprise that Hammond Robotics' rampage has created lava rifts that have ripped the Capitol in two.

The Capitol is split in two

The Capitol was the most spacious location in season 3. As soon as the legends disembarked from the ship, the situation here quickly heated up. Having arranged a chasm right in the middle of the Capitol, completely swallowing one of the buildings, we divided the area into two separate fragments: western and eastern.

Landing in one of the two areas, you can cross the fault in two ways: on a cable or on a makeshift bridge from a fallen skyscraper. In this way, units that have captured their side of the city after landing will be able to feel relatively safe, knowing that there is little chance of encountering rivals from another area. Is it too hot for you at the construction site? Fly to the eastern fragment and reinforce defenses at key points with Wattson or Caustic. Of course, Pathfinder's and Octane's ultimates will allow squads to cross the chasm anywhere.

Air flow

The original idea with the chasm was for players to crash to their deaths after a failed jump. The developers wanted to make a serious barrier out of the rift, so that it would be possible to break through to the other side only with a fight using one of the methods described above. The skills of certain legends became simply invaluable (Pathfinder and Octane help the team overcome the area, and Wattson and Caustic defend against intruders), and during the narrowing of the ring, intense battles ensued here. The problem was that instant death from a fall seemed too harsh a punishment. The case would end with the players avoiding the new map after a sudden and unfair defeat.

In the current version of the updated World's End, if you jump into the abyss that separates the Capitol, a powerful air current will save you from volcanic death and allow you to land on the opposite side. This mechanic is balanced for two reasons. First, you will receive 25 units. damage from unbearable heat and ash flying from lava. This fixed damage is dealt each time you fall into a rift. Secondly, when you are caught in the current, you will soar very slowly in third-person mode. In fact, at this moment you are a flying container with prey.

Given the competitive side of the game, the developers feared that such a system would allow players to get out of losing situations by jumping into the abyss and flying away. The idea is that the damage dealt and the slow rise will make players beware of the abyss during the fight, but in a more relaxed environment, you can experiment with a new card without fear of instant death.

Explorers Camp

A new small area appeared between the epicenter and Skyhook. This is another camp where you can rest after the horrors of the Capitol, the processing plant and the epicenter. In addition, such a camp will create new possible routes of movement. For example, you can go through the railway tunnel to get to the Skyhook.

Since the zone is small, an incentive to visit it was implemented by setting up a weapon rack in this location.

Racks with weapons

You will always find weapons on these racks, and they are located in the small buildings of the explorers' camp. You have already met them in training and on the shooting range, so you will recognize them at a glance. Players who value a reliable trunk more than running through hot spots will have to rack their brains over a new optimal route.

We'll be watching with interest to see how this change will change the drop-off strategy.

With these updates, and the new occupied lands coming later in Season 4, we hope you'll love World's End as much as we do!
