Collection of images from Unreal Editor for Fortnite surfaced with the leak, giving us our first look at the new program due out in December.
A number of Unreal Engine forum posts that were used to report bugs in Fortnite's Unreal Editor beta were accidentally made public on Saturday. Even though Epic removed it almost instantly, Google's cache saved the posts and gave us our very first glimpse of what "Creative 2.0" would look like.
The program appears to be a stripped-down version of Unreal Engine 5 focused on Fortnite and its assets. Anyone who has previously used Unreal Engine will be familiar with the new program as it retains many of the same elements. From what we can see in the leaked images, the editor will have the following:
- Memory limit 100 MB
- Import custom models
- Official Epic Model Library
- Terrain editing
- Water editing
It's worth noting that the leaked forum posts were made in July 2022, meaning it's likely that the editor has received updates since then and will look different when it launches later this year. Epic Games has not commented on the Unreal Editor for Fortnite since it was originally announced back in December 2020. It is expected that the program will be presented along with the 4th chapter of the Royal battle, which starts in six weeks.
As always, we will keep you updated.
