Apex Legends Leak Suggests 'Tropical Island' Will Become New Battle Royale Map
Respawn is set to add a new "Tropical Island" map to Apex Legends in the near future, according to new map pack code lines added to the Battle Royale backend after the August 6 Season 18 update.
Little is known about the new Tropical Island map other than a recently discovered string code. The string reads "MP_RR_TROPIC_ISLAND_DESC", which is the same as Kings Canyon and World's Edge in Apex Legends core code.
In fact, the newly added code is right next to World's Edge in the same map packs folder. Lines have been found Ministers Apex Legends Data shrugtal и Beast12 shortly after the release of the August 18 patch.
Nothing else has yet been discovered in the Tropical Island code. This also makes sense; when World's Edge was first added, it remained a separate map file for multiple patches in a row.

Apex Legends fans will certainly be happy to hear that a new map has been added to the Battle Royale backend code. Players were rather disappointed when Respawn confirmed that World's Edge would be "reworked" instead of the brand new map that arrived in Season 6.
The news of the "upgrade" was doubly poignant, given all the evidence that was being created for the new urban battlefield, Olympus. He was teased in the fifth season storyline and in several trailers and gameplay videos.
While "Olympus" may have been shelved for now —insiders have speculated that it was never set for a Season 6 release — "Tropical Island" does have a little more evidence.
The name certainly evokes a certain visual range. Kings Canyon and World's Edge boast sandy and tropical swamps respectively, but this new "tropical" map can bring the two elements together.
Oddly enough, the "tropical jungle map" is what Apex fans are talking about requested. In April, Redditor NizzyDeniro suggested that the tropical map could have "dense" jungles with vines that work like ziplines."
They wrote that they would like to see "giant trees ... for good sniping and stealth, long range, medium and close combat. Caves... lit by glowing crystals, with holes in the ceilings. Shallow lakes… waterfalls… [and] a spinning sailboat that just floats across the map.”
Well, it looks like it might be possible sooner than expected if Respawn ends up building on this Tropical Island map code. Of course, there was no official confirmation, but it seems that while it is in the process.
