Valorant Crash Course: Australian Pro Tips

Professional gamer

For those who come from Counter-Strike In Valorant there are a lot of transferable skills in terms of core mechanics. But if you come from other shooters like Overwatch , Quake or other games like League of Legends , you may be wondering why you don't have enough kills.

Professional gamer

We asked questions to a professional player Counter-Strike и Valorant Tyler "Tucks" Reilly for advice on how to improve his game. Tux played for the Australian Counter-Strike team for many years before coaching the esports organization ORDER. With the help of their Alienware sponsors, they begin their campaign to dominate the competitive Valorant .

We'll cover the basics first - the nitty-gritty details of showdowns - before we cover some of the higher-level team tactics near the end.

THE RIGHT GOAL

Valorant - Is counterstrike, hidden under the hood, with aesthetics Overwatch . The movement, bullet spray patterns, and overall game mode are all borrowed from esports giant Valve. With that in mind, the basic rule of thumb is simple:

If you are moving, you are inaccurate.

Instead of just releasing the move button and waiting for it to slow down, you can press the opposite move button to stop faster. This is called a counterattack. When you press A to run and peek around a corner, you can quickly press D to stop before you fire, allowing you to land an accurate headshot.

Valorant provides a shooting range that is great for practice. Instead of standing still while the bots spawn, keep moving and stopping before firing, feeling the shot in the moment of that small window as you stand still.

The newly released Deathmatch mode is also a great tool to maximize the amount of firefights (and therefore aiming practice) in a short amount of time. There are also third-party aim training tools, but Tux personally doesn't think they're necessary.

“I find it best to play the game a lot and use real weapons in the game,” Tux says of the ORDER training mode. “If you spend some time every day at the shooting range and in deathmatch, you will quickly notice a lot of positive changes.”

After the first act, Tux is confident that he knows the key element that the new player should focus on.

“I think the most important thing is the position of the scope. That's all, he says. “Make sure your scope is always at head level when you walk. I don't usually hold the crosshair right in the corner either, I leave a bit of room for the enemy so my reaction speed can catch him."

TEAM COMPOSITION AND USEFULNESS

It's tempting to focus on all the crazy combos you can pull off in Valorant . But unlike CS:GO, not every character can buy smok and flash drives Valorant .

So it's a great idea to be able to play multiple characters well to be able to give your team what it needs (be prepared for someone to instantly ban your favorite agent). A good team should have some smoke, a flash drive and some informational abilities like an Owl.

Defensive abilities are great for stopping, but don't use them at the first sign of an enemy. Many beginners get past the Sage slowdown and ice wall early in the round. There is a lot of time in the round - if the enemy team is smart, they will just wait until you are empty.

“To lure out utility is a very good thing,” Tux told us. “It depends on who you're playing against, but it's very easy to hit the Sage wall just by putting a little pressure on the site.

For competitive Valorant is just getting started But  since Alienware and ORDER have combined their efforts in the fight for dominance at the local level, the team has already spent several hours of serious training. During this time, Tux had already noticed something about how the meta is shaping up.

“Inciting to smoke is a serious matter. Most teams only have one smoker, such as Brimstone. They usually don't launch Brimstone and Omen at the same time. The fact that you know how useful they are means that their usefulness will go a long way to Valorant».

It also helps save on offense. Defending the flank while pushing is great, but keep in mind that you need to defend in post-set situations. Cypher tripwires are great for this.

However, Tux believes that the new agent Killjoy is the best choice since she can do this and more.

“Some teams can control Cypher and Killjoy. But she is more of an information agent, and Cypher is pure information,” he says. “He doesn’t cause any harm with his abilities. You just sort of figure out where they are. But Killjoy can do it and harm them. So I think she will eventually replace Cypher."

STRATEGIC BUYING

To give your team the best chance of winning the round, it's important to coordinate your purchases. In most cases, people will understand that in some rounds you just need to save money, and Valorant even has these voice lines built into the game. Unless you have 3900 credits for a rifle and full armor (and ideally some other utility), this is not a full buy round.

В Valorant it is easy for your opponent to plan this, since he can see from what amount you started the round. It works both ways - if you press Tab and see most of them have less than 3900 credits, expect them to attack melee weapons and get ready for a cheesy game.

weapon

However, unlike Counter-Strike , shotguns seem to be more viable in Valorant .

“The guns in this game are really strong,” Tux told us. “So a lot of teams use shotguns for the low income rounds. Especially since there are a lot of close angles on the cards in this game.”

Shorty, which costs 200 credits, is a shotgun with two shots at very close range before you need to reload. It's perfect for sitting around the corner and nothing more, but you can get some great bang for your buck with little money.

First of all, make sure you have fun, otherwise it's not worth it! When you master the movement and aiming mechanics in a tech shooter, such a How Valuing, and play enough to have a strong gaming sense of what's going on, the feeling of mastering a match is unlike anything most games can give you. Valorant is a young game , and esports the scene is still in its infancy. And with major sponsors like Alienware already committed to esports, it has a bright future ahead of it, with plenty of opportunities to make its mark on history.
