TikTok users have turned an ordinary video into a story about a hostage-taking. The video instantly went viral and in just a couple of days gained almost 30 million views.
A harmless video in which journalist Marcus DiPaola, in honor of his birthday, introduced subscribers to his girlfriend, had a great response. DiPaola spoke very emotionally about his beloved, as a result of which there was a feeling that she was really being held against her will.

TikTok users decided to take the story further with the Duet feature, which allows you to record your own video next to someone else's. For example, the tiktoker anarchosaladism recorded the duet in such a way that DiPaola had a gun in his hand.
Other tiktokers quickly picked up on the idea of anarchosaladism and thus made an entire report that you can't take your eyes off of. User katelxyn combined all the popular duets in one video, which currently has 27,4 million views. Viewers write that it was for the sake of such videos that they downloaded the application.
