Teamfight Tactics: Riot Confirms 4nd Game Mode Coming in Set XNUMX
It's been nearly two years since the release of Riot's popular League of Legends-inspired auto-battler Teamfight Tactics, but players are stuck in single-game mode. However, Riot is expanding this in Set 4, with a new mode coming in early 2021.
TFT has had one game mode since its release in early 2019. You could queue up with seven others and play through the same game from 1 set to 3 sets. The only things that have changed are the champions and the theme.
However, the game itself may finally change. Riot is working on new ways for players to enjoy TFT across all platforms. Although this includes new sets - for example, fourth, which will be released in September - it also includes new game modes.
Riot will finally deliver on that promise in 2021. To commemorate the two-year anniversary of the release of TFT, the developers have created a second game mode for players to queue up for.
“In addition to the new packs, we are also working on other ways to interact with TFT.” He explained GreenTeej's lead developer video from the developers of August 6 .
“We want TFT to be a place where there are multiple ways to enjoy [the game]—modes that better fit your schedule, whether you're playing on mobile or PC. We plan to introduce one new TFT mode to you early next year.”
However, what this new game mode might be remains a mystery. It can be a fast paced version of the game that players can play in 15-20 minutes. Considering the game can take up to 40 minutes right now, this might appeal to mobile gamers.
It could also lead to a completely wacky twist on the genre. Consider what URF has done for League of Legends. Raise the numbers to 11 and see what crazy shenanigans the players come up with.
The start of 2021 coincides with a potential Mid-Set update for Set 4 in January, so it could arrive at that time. Otherwise, it may happen when Set 4 ends sometime in April. The release window that Riot has given players is long, but the big news is that a new game mode is finally coming.
Riot also provided players with an update on the viewer client. While they were aiming for a 2020 release, they had to push it back to next year. However, players can expect this to happen as soon as possible, as Riot considers it a top priority.
“We are still exploring the Spectator mode as a way to improve the TFT viewing experience, and we know how important this feature is, especially for those who like to watch TFT at a high level,” added GreenTeej.
“We wanted to do it [in 2020], but first we had to focus on other areas of the game, such as keeping up with the new set of pace, as well as the mobile release. We are now making room for this work to begin.
TFT Set 4 is set to launch on September 16th when League Patch 10.19 is released.
