Gambit Valorant roster will return to VCT 2022 as an independent team

Gambit has announced that its Valorant roster will continue VCT 2022 as an independent team ahead of the game against NAVI.

The team will now play under the name "M3 Champions", which is a throwback to the players' 1st place at the Masters Berlin last September. All Gambit Valorant players will remain together during this transitional period.

Valorant Champions vice-champions are yet to be featured at VCT 2022, with Igor "Redgar" Vlasov leading Bogdan "Sheidos" Naumov, Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov, Nikita "d3ffo" Sudakov, and Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin through the remainder of Stage 1 Challengers.

“This is still a very difficult time for everyone, not least for all of us with family and friends living in Ukraine,” the organization said. So we've taken a division to give our players, Redgar, Chronicle, d3ffo, Sheydos and nAts, the chance to compete in the upcoming VCT competition as an independent team.

It is unclear if the team will look to return to Gambit sometime in the future, but for now they will continue their search for a Stage 1 Masters entry on their own.

Riot is focusing on the "escalation of the crisis in Ukraine" so that teams and players can play their games during the VCT track in the EMEA region. Thus, they postponed the EMEA tour at the end of February as the crisis unfolded.

When they returned on March 5, Gambit's game against NAVI was noticeably absent from the schedule. This game is now expected to take place on March 16 as the roster has cut ties with the Russian organization.

The close-knit members of Gambit Valorant will now play as an independent M3C team.

VCT's EMEA Group A team, FunPlus Phoenix also had to contend with a growing crisis by replacing Ukrainian IGL Kyrylo "ANGE1" Karasiuv for the VCT.

M3 Champions will put together their three postponed matches on consecutive days, starting with NAVI, then BIG, and ending with LDN on March 18th.
