Overwatch 2 leak reveals three new heroes and public beta date
A new Overwatch 2 leak has surfaced claiming it reveals three new heroes that will launch with the beta later in February.
An Overwatch 2 beta has been rumored for a couple of weeks now since a meeting between content creators and developers was leaked, indicating that the beta will launch later this month.
Those rumors intensified after Overwatch 2 hit developer Battle.net's server, suggesting players won't have to wait long before they can get their hands on the sequel.
Now a new leak is circulating in the community, claiming what the next heroes added to the game will be and when fans will be able to see it for themselves.
Overwatch fans may soon be able to play as Sojourn.
Overwatch 2 beta details may have been revealed
Message on MMO-Champion forums from a user claiming to be familiar with OW2 and World of Warcraft, distributed in Blizzard fandoms.
The leak claims that closed beta testing will begin at the end of February, with public testing taking place in March. In addition, three new heroes will be available: Sojourn, Mauga and Yako.
"They will announce two more new heroes: Mauga (a tank fan who dually wields Gatling guns) and Yako (a teenage ninja girl with a giant shuriken and a pet fox spirit)," the whistleblower said. "Closed Beta will begin at the end of February, with a public PvE demo scheduled for two weeks in mid-March (console and PC)."
Sojourn has been known for a long time, but the news about Mauga and Yako gives hope to fans. Mauga was first shown back when Baptiste was first added to the original game, and Yako was teased on the Kanezaka death match map.
The graffiti on the map labeled "yokai" hinted at a fox-like hero, and previous reports suggested that such a character was briefly showcased behind closed doors at BlizzCon 2019.
Overwatch fans are excited about the potential leak. “Sounds extremely plausible to me personally,” wrote one of them on official Blizzard forums.
Others were skeptical but optimistic. “I'm going to refrain from any hype until we start seeing official things. I don't want to re-set my hopes and then crush them with silence," interjected another.
We'll have to wait and see if the leak turns out to be accurate, but with February 18th approaching, we won't have to figure it out for long.
