Arcane's Silko is the new TFT Champion ahead of Update 6.5

The first non-champion of League of Legends is coming to TFT, and he won't be an underdog. Silko, the main villain from the hit TV show Arcane, will be joining TFT's roster during Gizmos and Gadgets as part of the February Set 6.5 Mid-Set update.

Teamfight Tactics is growing and expanding beyond League of Legends - well, sort of.

Riot are planning to release the first champion of the game, which was not created by an autobattler, but comes from Arcane, the studio's new series. The villain from the popular TV show will be launched as part of the Mid-Set update in February 2022, according to blog post on the Korean Riot website.

Crime lord Zaun Silko is coming from Arcane to TFT in Set 6.5, but don't expect him to be added to League of Legends.

Given that Riot routinely brings champions from League of Legends to TFT every set, they had to build Silko's model from scratch to add him to Set 6.5.

“Because Silco is the first non-League of Legends champion division, it faced various challenges and opportunities during development,” Riot said in a Korean blog post, according to the translation.

"Porting League of Legends champions to Teamfight Tactics was a lot of work, but since Silco will not be added to League of Legends, we had to start development from scratch."

However, Riot has been limited in every detail other than Silko's arrival in TFT. They didn't share any details about Silko's abilities or traits - just his model. However, they teased that he will control the battlefield from the back lanes, which means there could be Shimmer in the game as well.

Silco's addition comes ahead of three champions who are in League of Legends but have not appeared in TFT since its launch in 2019: Alistar, Corki, and Rammus.

Riot is open to adding more non-resident LoL champions to TFT

Riot is leaving the door open to add more champions from outside of League of Legends to Teamfight Tactics. They even said they would consider adding units from outside the Runeterra universe.

“Silko is the first non-League of Legends champion [in TFT], but more outsiders may join him in the future. [They] might even come from outside Runeterra,” Riot hinted.

This opens up an almost limitless number of possibilities for future TFT lineups. Riot can adapt Legends of Runeterra or even Valorant Agents cards into TFT Champions. We could also see some crossovers, as Riot did during the recent Arcane event.

TFT Set 6.5 will be launched in February 2022, and more details about the Gizmos and Gadgets Mid-Set update are expected in the new year.
