Recap of Season 10 Episode 2 The Saga of Vinland

Three years later Thorfinn and Einar finally cleared the forest to turn it into a farm. Thorfinn asks Einar what he will do when he is free, but he is unsure as he no longer has a family. He also feels awkward towards Arneida. Einar returns the question to Thorfinn, but he is also unsure of what he wants to do. He thinks about wanting a world without war and slavery. Ketil suddenly appears and praises the boys for a job well done.

He tells them that they can be free as soon as they finish planting seeds on the farm. However, they have to wait for Ketil's return, as he is on his way to Jelling to visit King Harald. He also offers Thorfinn and Einar jobs as his servants once they are free. Meanwhile Knud returns to Jelling from England. Wulf informs him of Harald's poor condition. Knut reflects on how kind Harald was, especially when he was a child.

Canute visits Harald in his room. Harald weakly tells him that Denmark is his. Suddenly Knud sees Swain's head, reminding him that he poisoned his brother. Swain calls Canute to rule over the entire North Sea and calls it the curse of the crown. Later in his room, Knud talks to Swain's head. He says that Harald's death is necessary because two kings would be troublesome.
