Where to begin

All World of Warcraft players with an active subscription or account playtime will be able to play WoW Classic for free.

  1. Launch Blizzard's Battle.net app and select from the menu World of Warcraft.
  2. Change version on World of Warcraft Classic in the dropdown menu. If you have several accounts World of Warcraft, you can use the corresponding additional drop-down list. Select the active account you want to use in WoW Classic.
  3. Click on the button "Install". A status bar will appear that will show you when you can start the game.
  4. After installation is complete, click the button "Play".

Choose game world of the right type to create a hero. Be sure to select the game world your friends are playing in! Remember that in World of Warcraft Classic you can only party with other heroes from your realm.

If you want to find more players who share your interests, check out to the list of new guilds on the official forum.

Game world types

There are several types of game worlds. Think about your choice: the style of play in different worlds varies significantly.

  • Normal game world these game worlds are best for players who don't want to engage in open world PvP battles. All zones are considered contested, except for cities of the hostile faction, where outsiders automatically go into PvP mode. Players cannot attack each other in contested territories. You can only attack those who have enabled PvP mode using the /PvP command.
  • PvP (player versus player) - game worlds where PvP mode is supported in the open world. Players can attack each other everywhere, except in some areas, such as the starting zones where newly created characters spawn.
  • RP (RPG Game World) - These worlds are best suited for those who want to win back their hero and communicate with other players without leaving the image. The rules of the regular game world apply here and the PvP mode in the open world is not supported.
  • RP PvP (RPG game world with PvP) - RP PvP worlds will suit those who want to win back their hero and participate in PvP in contested zones.

Character Creation

After choosing a game world, you can create a hero and start the adventure. You have to choose a faction, class and race of the character, personalize his appearance and give him a name. Click on the button "New Character".

You can choose from one of the four Alliance races or one of the four Horde races. There are nine classes available for each faction - and like the original version of World of Warcraft, paladin and shaman are unique classes for the Alliance and Horde, respectively.

You can create up to 10 characters in each WoW Classic realm - up to 50 heroes in all realms in your region. In addition, in PvP worlds, you can create heroes that belong to only one faction (Alliance or Horde).

Abilities, Weapon Proficiency, Spells and Talents

Heroes in World of Warcraft Classic gain access to new class abilities as they level up. These abilities must be learned (or mastered new levels of already learned abilities) by visiting class mentors in the capitals.

At level 10, you will unlock one of the main personalization tools: your class talents. Each level above 51 you will gain one talent point, up to a maximum of 60 points at level XNUMX. Each class has three unique talent trees. You can freely distribute talent points between them depending on your goals and play style.

Talents can be reset at any time by visiting the class mentor. The price of this service increases after each change of talents and can be up to a maximum of 50 gold.

If you're not sure how best to allocate talent points, there are other player-created talent calculators at your disposal.

Weapon skill is one of the most important stats for your hero in World of Warcraft Classic. The more you use a particular weapon, the higher the corresponding skill becomes, which determines your ability to hit the target. Each class can wield multiple weapons. Visit a weapon expert in your capital to learn a weapon skill that the hero did not originally own.

Available Weapon Skills

  • Luke
  • Crossbows
  • Daggers
  • Firearms
  • One-Handed Axes
  • One-handed blunt weapon
  • One-Handed Swords
  • Polearms
  • Staves
  • Swords
  • Throwing weapons
  • Two-Handed Axes
  • Two-handed blunt weapon
  • Two-handed swords
  • Fight without weapons
  • Wands

Resources

Some classes require additional resources to use certain abilities and spells. Priests must buy candles to cast Prayer of Fortitude, rogues make their own poisons to poison weapons, and hunters keep a supply of food for a pet to maintain its loyalty level (otherwise the pet can be lost). And if your character uses a ranged weapon like a bow, don't forget to carry a supply of arrows with you.

Tip: buffs cost a lot of money, so if you want this healer to join you next time, consider buying him some supplies... Just out of the goodness of your heart.

professions

There are nine main professions available to heroes in WoW Classic, of which two can be mastered at the same time. Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Leatherworking also have additional specializations that can be learned from mentors in different parts of the game world. In addition, the game has three auxiliary skills available to all heroes without restrictions.

Main professions: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Herbalism, Leatherworking, Skinning, and Tailoring.

  • Blacksmiths can choose to specialize in Armorer or Armorer.
  • Engineers can specialize in Gnomish or Goblin Engineering.
  • Leatherworkers have access to the Dragon Skins and Elemental Power specializations.

Secondary Skills: cooking, first aid, fishing.

Tip: First Aid skill can be useful even for healers.

Vehicles: Traveling around Azeroth

To navigate Azeroth, you'll need to learn the airways and memorize the routes of ships and airships. At level 40 - if you've accumulated enough gold by then - you'll also be able to learn the riding skill and purchase your first vehicle.

Tip: it is also useful to make friends with a couple of magicians so that they open portals to the main cities for you. For this they can be paid a little, it is considered polite. In addition, the warlock can call you to him (for this he will need the help of two more players). In both cases, you must be in the same group as the warlock or mage.

Groups and loot

To defeat powerful enemies or complete tasks faster, you can team up with other players. At the same time, all members of the group receive experience for killed enemies and can claim loot.

The leader of the group can choose one of several options for the distribution of loot.

  • Responsible distributes: the leader of the group distributes the loot.
  • In turn: all members of the group receive the loot in turn.
  • Group Loot: Party members roll lots to decide who gets valuable items.
  • Priority by necessity: only those who can use the item that has been dropped will draw lots.
  • Free access: anyone can take anything.

Don't forget to set the correct loot mode at the very beginning of the adventure. If you really need a particular item, clarify in advance how your group is going to distribute the loot in general and this item in particular.

Dungeons and raids

In WoW Classic, you can jump into dungeons and raids, which were a huge part of the game in its early days. But first, of course, you need to find friends. The Finding Party channel (/login Finding Companions) is a great way to invite players to join a party. To quickly call them into place, add a warlock to the group. Otherwise, you will have to wait for your companions to get there on their own. At the entrance to the dungeon or raid, you will see the "Meeting Stone". Hover over it to see the dungeon name and recommended player levels.

Personal items cannot be exchanged, but within two hours after receiving the loot, you can transfer it to another player who was also in the group at the time of receiving the item.

Your adventure is just beginning, and there is much more to learn as you rediscover Azeroth. We wish you good luck and may your blade never become dull!
