According to the support team, Riot Games has released a new system that punishes "vulgarity and profanity" in LoL.

Like several other developers and publishers in the industry, Riot is committed to reducing toxicity in its online community.

The company shared details of one such effort just last week, detailing its plan to partner with Ubisoft in a research project titled "Zero harm in communications».

This new initiative aims to develop a cross-industry database that teaches AI tools to “detect and mitigate disruptive behavior.” Meanwhile, Riot continues to equip League of Legends with its anti-toxic tools.

Riot Games has cleared the air after a bit of confusion that arose due to the recent release of patches.

As noted by YouTuber and Twitch streamer HappyChimeNoises, Riot Cyerena support rep clarified the company's latest stance on profanity in League of Legends.

A studio spokesperson told players that the penalty system recently received an update to "look for and penalize vulgarity and profanity…" Punishment will occur regardless of the context in which the player uses such language.

Cyrena added that the punishment acts as a "warning" that should encourage users to be more mindful of their chat behavior. The full post from the support team reads as follows:

The recently released system even applies to LoL players who use profanity as "self-burning".

Looking ahead, League of Legends fans will want to exercise caution when interacting with others in chat.
