Mercenaries Mode Coming to Resident Evil 4 Remake as Free DLC: Release Date
Remake Resident Evil 4, although rich in content and features, did not include the Mercenaries mode at launch. Now, publisher Capcom has finally revealed the release date for the iconic arcade mini-game. It will arrive on April 7, 2023 as a free DLC update for all platforms. The news was officially announced in the game's latest launch trailer. While the lack of a mode at launch reduced the value of the game for many players, this new confirmation should put them at ease.
Since The Mercenaries mode will be available approximately two weeks after the launch of the base game, players will have plenty of time to brush up on the basics of the gameplay.
Get ready for hectic combat in Resident Evil 4 Remake's upcoming mercenary mode
Mercenaries in the Resident Evil franchise is an arcade game mode where players aim for the best possible score while on a limited time limit. As one of several playable characters, they must make their way through the enemy incursion with the help of set charges made up of weapons, ammo, and consumables in order to regenerate health.
Players can score fast by killing hostile zombies and creepy mutants faster. Combos in particular are encouraged as they deal with multiple enemies at the same time and increase the score. Players will need to figure out how to clear each set in order to get the best time possible.
This mode has always been a problem for those who have completed the campaign, but it adds value to the game's replay. Players could choose between four characters in the original mode - main character Leon Kennedy, side character Ada Wong, antagonist Major Kraus, and Umbrella Corp soldier Hunk. This choice has yet to be confirmed, but it's likely that the same will hold true for the remake as well.
