Respawn is working on a new single-player FPS game set in the Apex Legends universe
Respawn Entertainment is working on a new FPS game set in the Apex Legends universe, which is also a Titanfall universe, and it appears to be a single-player game.
A new game is in development according to job listings that are hiring developers for the project. There are a few details that can be gleaned about what kind of game it will be, besides being a first-person shooter and a single-player game based on the description of the "incubation unit" for the new game.
Respawn previously announced that they were working on a new single-player game, though it's unclear if this is the same game in development or a different one.
Job Listing for Senior Engine/Systems Developer at Respawn website describes it as an "Apex Universe FPS Incubation title" - presumably a small team working on the game before it's ready for official announcement.
Little else can be learned about the game from the job description other than that this particular role will take care of "a wide range of systems including collisions, physics, audio" and other aspects of technical development.
Other roles for the team describe it as "an all-new Respawn single-player adventure".
It's possible that Respawn is creating a story-driven game Apex Legends, given the rich lore already present in battle royale.
There's also a small, but not impossible, chance that this game will be more closely tied to the Titanfall franchise - Respawn will keep its cards close to its chest. However, there are already some confirmed developers on the team, such as Chad Barb, CTO.
Right now, we'll just have to wait until Respawn is ready to reveal more. Apex Legends as a franchise has been a huge success for both developer and publisher EA, and the mobile version of the game also just released in 2022. No wonder they want to continue to make the most of the brand.
