Hu Tao
This spear-wielding pyro character can deal a serious blow if configured with correct assembly. Fans expected another five-star pyro character to be at the same level as Diluc, and while Hu Tao won't be able to deal the same amount of damage with AoE attacks, her single target damage makes her extremely valuable.
Nahida
Currently, Nahida is considered to be an amazing Dendro character in Genshin Impact. Her overall package for on- and off-field DPS, support, and even exploration is impressive. Unsurprisingly, she is versatile enough to make her a valuable part of many teams.
Ye Lan
Ye Lan is a master with the bow and has an extremely unique set of abilities that can make a ton of difference to metas like DPS or support.
Ayaka
Update 2.0 introduced Ayaku, the cryo sword user in the game. Many people had high hopes for this character, and it's fair to say that she lived up to them. While she doesn't have the same damage output as Diluc or Gan Yu, Ayaka can be built as a DPS, but she can also serve as a sub-DPS when needed. It is still too early to determine where Ayaka will place in the final rankings, but so far she has made a fantastic impression.
Al Haytham
Al-Haitham is a powerful Dendro damage dealer, capable of serving as a procaster or hyper-carry. If you need to strengthen your squad, then al-Haytham can be a great addition. He turns into a real fighting monster thanks to Dendro Resonance and the increased attack speed from his passive skills and Nahida's ult.
Bennett
How can a character with four stars be at the top level? Bennett fills the support role in most groups, providing the entire team with damage buffs, healing, and the ability to deal damage when needed. There's a reason why Bennett has the highest pick percentage of any character on the toughest floors of the Twisted Abyss - he's the perfect all-in-one character.
Kazuha
Kazuha, the first Inazuma character to join the game, impressed the Genshin Impact community with his incredible versatility. Using best build Kazuhi, this Anemo Sword character can do a lot of damage by itself. If you can include him in a team that uses elemental reactions, the amount of damage you can stack is truly staggering.
Zhong Li
After update 1.3, Zhong Li is finally worthy of his five-star rating. Buffs to Geo Abilities and Geo Elemental Resonance dramatically increased Zhong Li's damage output. Not only is Zhong Li capable of dealing damage on par with S-tier characters, his Jade Shield ability is very effective, allowing him to play in a hybrid DPS/Support role. Take a look at our assembly Genshin Impact Zhong Li, to see how much better he got.
Kokomi
Given the number of characters on Genshin Impact's roster, it's becoming difficult for developers to create a new type of healer that players haven't seen before. Kokomi is the latest hydro healer to join the game, and it immediately looks like the community is unhappy with her stats. Using best support build for kokomi , it's fair to say that Kokomi is a great healer, but her skills aren't needed in the current meta.
Shogun Raiden
Shogun Raiden is a great character, but her weak Electro element lets her down. Compared to Pyro and Cryo, Electro cannot compete with the best elements as he is not strong enough. You can get the most out of Baal by choosing support build - Use her elemental skill to buff your party members. If Electro gets a buff to speed him up with the best elements of the game, Raiden Shogun could climb higher in our rankings.
Xiangling
She might not deal the most melee damage with her polearms alone, but there's no denying that Xiang Ling is one of the best pyros in Genshin Impact. Her elemental skill knocks back an auto-targeting fire-breathing teddy bear while her elemental explosion surrounds her in fire for up to ten seconds.
Xingqiu
Xin Qiu's sword attacks are average, and the cooldown of the element is very long. It's not the most suitable Hydro to use wet against large hordes of enemies. But there is also a positive point: Xin Qiu's passive heals the current character, which can be very useful in the right team.
Lini
Lini is a character that relies heavily on her charge attacks and acts as the lead in dealing Pyro damage. He can successfully collaborate with other heroes to cause different reactions, but Lini is most effective when combined with other characters that can cause Pyro elemental effects. His passive skills increase the damage dealt to enemies affected by this element, and also increase the number of characters of this element in your team. Despite the unique mechanics, Lini remains flexible and can adapt to different game situations.
Bai Zhu
Bai Zhu plays the role of healer and protector, making him an integral part of teams with Dendro characters, especially when using the Vegetation reaction. His shield, while not the most powerful, makes up for it with consistent and reliable healing. Additionally, as the wielder of the Bubu Hut, he acts as a damage catalyst outside of the battlefield, making him effective at causing reactions or helping create them by acting as a reactor or applicator. For units focused on other elements, there may be better alternatives, but in Dendro builds, Bai Zhu is extremely useful. Its power manifests itself even without the need for large investments in constellations and weapons.
Ganyu
Gan Yu and her Bow are the first to rival Diluc's basic attack power. On top of that, she has the unique ability to fire different types of cryo-shooters with just her charged attack, including area-of-effect attacks. Together with her powerful elemental AoE abilities, Gan Yu can constantly damage and freeze her enemies.
Ayato
Ayato is an excellent damage dealer, capable of dealing significant damage without drawing all the attention to himself. His ultimate ability, even when Ayato is not active, deals continuous damage in a specific area and enhances the normal attacks of characters in that area. When Ayato activates Hydro's elemental skill, he instantly attacks nearby enemies, which when combined with the Pyro hero creates a powerful Vapor reaction, considered one of the most powerful in the game.
Arataki Itto
An Oni troublemaker and leader of the Arataki Gang, Itto is a powerful Geo Damage Dealer who can use Arataki Kesagiri's Special Charged Strikes and his Apparition of the King: Itto the Violent to infuse his Geo weapons and incinerate enemies.
Wanderer
The Wanderer is a unique character who has a special hovering mechanic, which allows him to attack opponents from a height and avoid most melee attacks. Additionally, his normal attacks have a large area of effect, making him effective against groups of enemies. The Wanderer provides flexibility in the choice of build, as he can successfully serve both as a classic damage dealer with an emphasis on his own damage, and in a build through Dispel, where he uses his pocket abilities to increase the overall damage of the entire group.
Yae Miko
Yae Miko can deal consistent electro out of the field, and a powerful elemental explosion can deal powerful damage even without reactions. The real character is revealed when using constellations that increase the damage of her Elemental Skills.
Shen He
Able to slyly empower cryo-attacks that scale from her Max ATK. Provides damage reduction from the field and consistent application of cryo. Power Support has very strict team requirements in order to maximize the gain.
Tignari
Tignari is an excellent offensive character who specializes in using elemental reactions with Dendro. His playstyle, which emphasizes charged attacks, allows him to deal significant damage, and he is also capable of dealing decent damage on his own. The short cooldown and low cost of his ultimate make him a great choice for teams focused on dealing high burst damage. Given that Dendro does not interact directly with the elements of Cryo, Geo, and Anemo, teaming Tignari requires some extra work, although this is not necessary unless the archer relies on elemental interactions.
Tartaglia
This hydro character is not only handy with a bow; by activating his elemental skill, he can swap his ranged weapons for melee daggers. Unlike most Hydro characters, Tartaglia is capable of dealing high elemental damage. It can easily set up Hydro/Electro or Hydro/Cryo combinations, making it useful in many ways.
Dione
Dione isn't as useful as a ranged dealer, but her cryo abilities can easily freeze multiple enemies at once. She can also heal and create protective shields. While Diona isn't the best in any of these roles, this makes her a great elemental support for up-and-coming teams.
Yun Jin
A unique character that can enhance normal attack. Also works great as a Sub-DPS, especially in a geo team.
Cookie Shinobu
Kuki Shinobu is the first character with the Electro Element, capable of serving as a healer. This makes her one of the most sought-after supports in groups with physical damage heroes, as she constantly activates the Superconductor reaction, while not forgetting to maintain the health of the team. Cookie's skills are not limited to just healing - she is also capable of dealing damage from afar and serving as an explosive support character when activating her ultimate. Even though she, like many epic heroes, only reaches her full potential when all the constellations are present, even without them she remains a very useful member of the team.
Nile
While Neelu's gameplay is focused on the Budding mechanic, it provides a new way to explore reactions by introducing unique mechanics for working with Dendro cores. On teams that use other reactions, some of Neelu's passive talents may be inactive, but even in such cases, with the right artifacts and weapons, he is capable of dealing significant damage. Such builds can be viable and effective, although they limit some of its functionality. Overall, Neelu carves out her own unique niche and is one of the strongest characters in the game that has no equal yet.
Fischl
Fischl has the unique ability to summon Oz, her familiar, to the battlefield. While Fischl needs some constellations and talent upgrades to maximize Electro Oz' damage, this ability has very high potential and is great for creating Electro-infused elemental reactions.
Goro
This canine general is best used as a support character, buffing your team with banner buffs depending on the number of Geo characters you use. These element-specific support abilities allow him to recharge Geo Packs and add more value.
Albedo
Unlike other geo-characters in Genshin Impact, Albedo can continuously inflict heavy damage from geo-saturated elemental reactions. His elemental abilities create geo-explosions with a large area of effect, and Albedo's elemental skill has an exceptionally short cooldown of only four seconds.
Kujo Sara
Without any constellation upgrades, Sarah is undoubtedly one of the most awkward characters in the game due to her clunky moveset. As a DPS option, Sarah struggles to compete with other four star characters. Sarah's abilities make her ideal for Electro teams, but this element is not enough to make her useful. At a minimum, try to have at least one extra Electro character in your party to get the most out of Sarah.
Eimia
Eimia in a squad can act as primary or secondary damage. Her main goal is to defeat single targets, and she almost always aims to do so. Eimiya interacts with the game world through his elemental skill and auto-attacks. Her ultimate is relatively weak and is typically used by players as an additional source of damage for other party members, allowing her to wear the Shimenawa set comfortably. Combined with her elemental skill and high base attack, these artifacts make her one of the most powerful DPS against single opponents. Eimiya does not require complex combinations or animation disruptions, and she works well with popular supports.
Mona
Mona's hydro-character's elemental explosion can immobilize multiple enemies at once, potentially freezing them along with teammate Crio. Additionally, she can protect your main DPS from taking too much damage by creating her taunt phantom. Mona also has a special ability to evade, making this Catalyst wielder extremely mobile.
А-LEVEL
Venti
Venti, an anemo character with a bow, is probably the best support fighter in the game. He can use his elemental skill to launch enemies or himself into the air, while his elemental blast creates a massive whirlpool that sucks in all nearby enemies. It also absorbs Pyro, Electro, Hydro, and Cryo elements, which are then converted into 50% additional damage for that element type.
Keqing
Keqing has incredibly high stats that immediately make her one of the best characters in the game. This sword-wielding electro character ranks among the best in all categories: attack power, HP and defense. This makes her an amazing melee fighter, but she also has strong Electro abilities. Did we mention that she can use her elemental skills to teleport across the battlefield?
Diluc
Generally considered the best DPS character in Genshin Impact, Diluc has a devastating Claymore shield, the highest base attack power, and a high critical strike chance. His elemental abilities are capable of dealing devastating pyro damage, and he's perfect for elemental reactions. If that's not enough for you, Diluc's elemental blast has a 12 second cooldown and only requires 40 energy.
Yun Jin
A unique character that can enhance normal attack. Also works great as a Sub-DPS, especially in a geo team.
Raizor
If you don't already have a 5-star core DPS, Razor is your next best option. Armed with a two-handed sword and high attack power, he is one of the top melee fighters in Genshin Impact. His elemental abilities enhance his melee attacks, but are less useful at creating elemental reactions.
Jean
Genie's basic attack is on the down side, but her versatility as an Anemo support and healer makes up for it. While she doesn't really excel in one particular role, she can carry a team with her combined melee attacks, crowd control abilities, and HP regeneration. Check out our guide to assembly Genie Genshin Impact, to learn how to use it in combat.
Yanfei
Compared to four-star characters, Yan Fei has the third-highest basic attack overall (tied with Rosaria). Pyro characters usually become strong due to elemental reactions, and Yan Fei is no exception. In our assembling Genshin Impact Yan Fei details which artifacts and weapons you should use to get the most out of this ace lawyer.
Rosary
Whether you're looking to build Rosaria as a primary source of damage or support for stronger characters, this four-star character from Cyro excels in several areas. While Rosaria's damage output may not be up to par with the very best characters, her abilities are incredibly versatile, allowing her to be featured on a variety of teams. Learn how to create the best build for Rosaria Genshin Impact here.
Fischl
Fischl has the unique ability to summon Oz, her familiar, to the battlefield. While Fischl needs some constellations and talent upgrades to maximize Electro Oz' damage, this ability has very high potential and is great for creating Electro-infused elemental reactions.
Barbara
This catalyzed hydro character may have the lowest base attack of all Genshin Impact characters, but she's an amazing healer. She can heal characters one by one using her elemental skill, or heal the entire team at once with her elemental blast. Unfortunately, she also induces a "wet" state, making her healing unusable against cryo enemies.
Yoimiya
Even though Yoimiya's abilities are based on fireworks, her attacks have very little AoE damage. As a result, Yoimiya can't easily get through the most difficult parts of the abyss without massive support from her team - while it can be done, it's just not optimal to play her that way. There is a chance that the community will raise such a fuss around her that the developers will decide to strengthen her, as they did with Zhong Li. Check out our yomiyi assembly, to learn how to make the most of her abilities.
volumes
Toma has very low damage ratios due to the large amount of utility in his kit, primarily focused on shields. Using best build for Tom , you can expand the capabilities of this utility with e-energy recharge and health scaling.
Goro
This canine general is best used as a support character, buffing your team with banner buffs depending on the number of Geo characters you use. These element-specific support abilities allow him to recharge Geo Packs and add more value.
B-LEVEL
Sayu
Sayu is an anemo and claymore user who can deal damage as well as heal party members. As with most four-star characters, Sayu struggles to stand out from characters like Gan Yu or Dione who are top of their class. That being said, if you've unlocked Saya and want to use her, there are definitely command lineups where she could really shine. Read our guide to assembling sayu, to see our support and DPS builds for this squirrel warrior.
Xin Yan
Pyro Xin Yan has the highest base attack of all four-star characters. However, she is also unlucky to be armed with the same weapon and elemental type as her beloved Diluc. While she's by no means a bad character, she's easily overshadowed by better characters with two-handed swords and a pyro element.
Chongyun
Chun Yun isn't bad as a melee two-hander, but he really shines as an area of effect cryo character. Combined with good hydro, it can freeze many enemies at once. With a mere 12 second cooldown on his elemental explosion, he can freeze, freeze, and freeze again.
Sucrose
Alchemist Sucrose can launch enemies into the air with her elemental skill, dealing anemo damage. She can also absorb all Pyro, Electro, Hydro, and Cryo elements with her explosion, converting them into extra damage. Sounds familiar? Sucrose is mainly Venti, but much weaker.
Dione
Dione isn't as useful as a ranged dealer, but her cryo abilities can easily freeze multiple enemies at once. She can also heal and create protective shields. While Diona isn't the best in any of these roles, this makes her a great elemental support for up-and-coming teams.
Qi qi
Let's start with the best that Qi Qi Sword Cryo Fighter has: not only does she have very high attack stats, but also healing abilities that scale with the same attack power. In other words, she is both an excellent dealer and healer. Unfortunately, there is no place for healers in the current meta, which means that Qi Qi effectiveness in the later floors of the abyss will drop significantly.
Eloy
The community didn't expect much from the first Genshin Impact crossover, as free characters don't usually work. Aloy seems to be the exception to this rule, as she is a great secondary DPS option on the right teams. The Machine Hunter is held back by the lack of constellations, though there is a chance they could be introduced later along with Aloy's story quest.
Kujo Sara
Without any constellation upgrades, Sarah is undoubtedly one of the most awkward characters in the game due to her clumsy moveset. As a DPS variant, Sarah struggles to compete with other four star characters. Sarah's abilities make her perfect for the Electro Party, but that element isn't enough to make her usable. At a minimum, try to have at least one additional Electro in your party to get the most out of Sarah.
C-LEVEL
Noelle
Noel is an extremely defensive Claymore-wielding Geo character. She is most useful to players in the early game thanks to her shield and healing ability. While her healing ability is weak, she can still work without a better healer.
Lisa
This librarian's AoE electro abilities are great for beginners. She has a higher base attack than the other three starting characters, she has area attacks, and her Electro damage is easy to increase thanks to her Catalyst. However, as you receive more prayers, others will surpass her.
Keia
Sword-wielding Keiya can serve as the top DPS for beginners in Genshin Impact, but he should be replaced as soon as possible. His ascend stats can give him a higher energy boost, but Keii's elemental abilities aren't as useful as other Cryo's.
Traveler
The Traveler's biggest advantage is the unique ability to change their elemental type. If your team really needs an anemo, electro or geo element, Traveler can help you. Normal sword attacks are not very destructive, but can easily fit into any team.
Ning Guang
This catalyst character has a rather unique shield ability that can be used to shape the battlefield; just place a massive geowall anywhere and stop the advancing hordes of enemies. The 1.3 update gave geos a much needed damage boost, so there's a chance Ning Guang will be higher over time. Check out our assembly on Ning Guang Genshin Impact, to learn how to play this geo DPS dealer.
Bay Doe
Bei Dou is a complex character. Most other two-handed sword characters have much higher base damage, and Bei Dou's elemental abilities only become powerful when her constellation level reaches four. In other words, it may be a long time before Bei Dou reaches its potential, although there are simpler and better alternatives (reference to you, Razor!).
D-LEVEL
Ember
Where to begin? Ember's elemental skill has a long cooldown, very low damage, and scales with her health. It takes a lot of time to start the explosion manually. Her elemental explosion and normal attack are also nothing special. Use it only for puzzles and exploration.
This was our character ranking as of the end of September 2021. We will update this list after the release of Update 2.2.
