Redfall: Shockingly low player engagement means the game is 'already dead'
Fans redfall express concerns that the game is already "dead", as low player engagement becomes noticeable just a few days after its release. Despite the game being out less than a week ago, its lackluster debut is causing concern among fans who fear the game will have a hard time gaining momentum and attracting an audience going forward.
As of this writing, Redfall's record online player peak is just over 6,000, with a 24-hour peak of 4,000. For a game in the AAA category, these numbers are alarming, especially considering the game has just been released.
One of the main problems with the game when it is launched is the performance issues, causing many players to complain that the game is almost unplayable.
Redfall's reviews state that the game is one of the worst in recent years, and even when it works, it leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't inspire. In general, many feel that the game has compromised too much to attract the attention of players.
Redfall players concerned about low engagement during launch
Redfall players, in a new Reddit thread, are expressing their concerns that the game is "already dead" due to its erratic launch and low player count. “Currently, there are only 1,5k active players on Steam and only 5k viewers on Twitch. I've never seen a big AAA game die so quickly. It's worse than Forspoken and I think objectively Redfall might be the worst game released this year.
What did Arkane think? If I were a developer at Arkane, I would never let the game come out in this state,” says one Reddit user.
Another user notes that "nearly 80% of the reviews on Steam are negative." Other users are also expressing their opinion that "flopping flops in a row is not a winning strategy, no matter how much money the companies have."
It remains to be seen if Redfall will be able to increase player numbers over the next few weeks and months after release. However, with competitors like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Diablo 4, chances are Redfall won't be able to overcome its issues and gain momentum.
