Warzone Devs Teasing Prestige System Upgraded Coming Soon

Warzone developers at Raven Software have confirmed that a new Prestige system upgrade is currently in the works, after the popular streamer outlined his biggest issues with the current leveling structure.

One of the most popular features from the early days of Call of Duty has been the Prestige system. Beating multiplayer levels and resetting your ranks to unlock the next rare emblem has long been one of the best ways to perpetuate your status.

Although things have changed in recent years as the franchise has adopted a seasonal model. Players now reset their progress with each new season instead of being able to reach max prestige and stay there.

Addressing the state of this once beloved feature, Twitch star Swagg voiced his concerns in a recent Q&A with two Warzone developers. It turns out that not only do they understand the criticism, but they are already working on a big update.

Achieving a certain prestige in Call of Duty used to be a sign of dedication.

With the current system in Warzone, according to the streamer, it's almost pointless to even start worrying about your Prestige level. That's the one thing the game really lacks, he continued - we want to be able to level up.

Responding to comments, Warzone creative lead Josh Bridge said the feedback was "absolutely fair". Raven attributes this recent decline in enthusiasm for the Prestige system to the "live model" structure.

“We went for this notion of seasonal equalization,” he explained. "Now looking at it on the positive side, it doesn't seem so intimidating for someone who was sidelined for a while at the start of the season because we're all at the same starting point."

On the other hand, however, Bridge admits that "the value of leveling is losing its meaning" as players are only focused on the season and not on the bigger picture.

Well aware of this feedback, the Warzone development team is already working on improving the state of their Prestige system.

“This is what you will see in the future,” Bridge hinted, “revision is the best way to describe it.

"We absolutely want to convey the value of what Prestige stands for and the rewards you get with it so you don't just watch the numbers tick."

Activision

We could see a complete overhaul of the Warzone progression system for the sequel.

Although it is not known how Prestiging could develop in Warzone, if we even see these changes before the release Warzone 2, we now know for sure that the function is under the gun of the developers.

"The whole progression and meta game is absolutely what we're aiming for in a revised form," Bridge concluded.
