The quarantine has its roots in the Outbreak event that took place in Rainbow Six Siege as it served as inspiration for the new installment.
Set several years into the future, the game sees “Rainbow operators encounter an entirely new breed of mutated alien parasites. By infecting human hosts and their surroundings, this new enemy is more lethal and dangerous than ever before.”
The game promises three-person co-op "tense, chaotic and completely unpredictable missions" with a "deep, radically redesigned and complete gaming experience". It's safe to say that this will be a slightly different Rainbow Six experience.

Platforms currently listed on the official website of the game, these are PC (Windows), PlayStation 4 and XBOX One. The question is whether the game will be optimized for next generation consoles like PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X | S.
