PS5 Lets You Test Games Before You Buy
For a limited time in the UK, Death Stranding: Director's Cut and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are available on PlayStation 5. However, the debut of the new service has not been without controversy.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a new feature for PlayStation 5 console users that allows them to test games for hours before purchasing them. Currently only available in the UK, the option allows you to check out two titles until October 28 - Death Stranding Director's Cut (for 6 hours) and Sackboy: A Big Adventure (5 hours).
All progress and trophies earned during the trial period will carry over to the full game if players choose to purchase the game.
In theory, this is a great way to find out if you want to fund a particular publication. However, it quickly became apparent that the feature wasn't working the way PS5 owners expected. The time spent on games is not counted from the moment they are first launched, but from ... clicking the "Download" button in the console menu or "Add to Library" in a web browser. In other words, it also includes the process of downloading and installing data, which turns out to be a big problem due to slow internet connection . Moreover, the trial period for this account can only be started once. Interestingly, according to a message received by users, this is a deliberate act by the Japanese giant.
As always, Reddit came to the rescue! One of them found a trivial way to get around this problem. The internet user using the jsnals alias recommends creating a new account in the same region as the main profile and then using it to download the test version. When the installation is complete, simply return to your main account, go to the games tab, and select "Download Trial".
Since the product is already on the disc, the user can immediately use it and enjoy it all the time. This service may not have debuted in the best way, but its arrival on PS5 bodes well for console users. Trial games can ensure that no one else misses the demos.
