NBA 2K22 Cover Curse Confirmed! Details

Fans are celebrating NBA 2K22 cover star Luka Doncic's injury ahead of the 2022 playoffs as yet another example of the infamous cover curse resurfacing.

Sports sims like NBA 2K22 always have a cover star and, for some superstitious fans, a cover jock curse. Now, one of the latest NBA injuries further confirms this urban legend.

Legend has it that athletes on the covers of games like Madden are more likely to get injured in the same year they are featured. Now it looks like NBA 2K might have a similar cover jock curse.

NBA 2K22 cover star Luka Doncic injured

The cover of NBA 2K22 features Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic, who has taken the NBA by storm since joining the league in 2018.

However, an injury sustained just days before the start of the NBA playoffs has left some players convinced that the cover curse is alive and well in the 2K series.

After the news broke on Reddit, NBA 2K players expressed their concerns about Luka and concerns about the cover curse seeping into the NBA 2K series, with Doncic being the latest example.

NBA 2K22 players are now convinced the cover curse is real

In the post BrownsvilleKid65 Redditor discussed the latest injuries in the NBA and drew comparisons to past cover stars and their injuries as examples that the curse is alive and well in 2K.

“The curse used to be that the pictured player left the team (Kylie, Paul George, LeBron),” one of the players replied.

Another went even further, noting that "[the curse] missed Giannis and now it's causing injuries."

The connection between athlete and injury is quite interesting, but there is no way to prove that 2K is "damned". Damned or not, hopefully Doncic can recover before the playoffs start on April 16th.
