Minecraft Ray Tracing Official Update Coming In Beta
I've spent countless hours playing with player-made shaders Minecraft , trying to light up her builds with blinding lights to make her stand out from the crowd. First step Mojang is to make this kind of official visualization, take place this Thursday, bring global illumination, brilliant reflections and more. However, there are several requirements.
As detailed in the announced Nvidia blog , this is for the Bedrock edition, which is downloaded through the Microsoft store. You will need to take the extra step of signing up for the beta with the program Xbox Insiders . You will also need a GeForce RTX graphics card. I'm addicted to the GeForce Titan, but if you have the right setup, brilliant Minecraft awaits. Here's what you can expect.
The new global illumination will bring a lot of magic. Light bounces and diffuses, two key tracing elements that make shadows cast just like in real life. The game will also have reflective surfaces, so anything polished will be able to reflect ambient light.
Specially commissioned maps are also being released to shed light on the new update. Of Temples and Totems by Razzleberry is a forest where people cast shadows and divine rays penetrate at photogenic angles. There are also cities, underwater vistas, and maps of fantasy islands.
Finally, the update will enable Nvidia DLSS 2.0. It intelligently increases the resolution of the game to get a better resolution at a higher frame rate, which almost seems to be ideal for Minecraft.
The update will be available sometime on Thursday the 16th. Nvidia will release game-ready drivers on the 15th.
