New Fortnite Leaks Confirm Chapter 3 in December

Warning: This article will discuss leaks and theories related to the release of Fortnite Chapter 3.
Rumors that Fortnite Chapter 2 would end earlier than expected first surfaced earlier this year, when on several occasions Epic Games used intriguingly crafted language to refer to the seasons following Season 18.
In the official blog post about the competition update, they were labeled as "the season that follows season 18". Then Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard used similar language in a Tweet on the subject.
So far, this has all been pure speculation. This could simply mean that the last two seasons of Chapter have a different title, similar to Season X in Chapter 1. However, new leaks from the v18.40 patch released on Tuesday seem pretty convincing.
The files showed a playlist of an upcoming event called "The Endgame". Insider @HYPEX had this to say: "Now that the 'Endgame' playlist has been found, I can finally talk about it: Chapter 3 is slated to launch on December 7th and the Black Hole will re-emerge and engulf December 5-6th."
He later added that it was "always obvious" because Season 8 ends on December 5 (Sunday) and updates tend to happen on Tuesdays. Again, this also reinforces the idea that we will have to endure a couple of days of server downtime.
In case that wasn't enough, a loading screen for this end-of-season live event has also been revealed. As seen in the image below by @YLSDEV, the title reads "Chapter 2 Finale".
So, all in all, we can expect an in-game event on December 5th that will leave us in Black Hole or its equivalent. The next Fortnite update, scheduled for December 7th, will open a new chapter. That means a whole new map, potentially new mechanics, and who knows what else.
Of course, there's still a small chance that this information is incorrect and we're just jumping to Season 9. Until that happens, nothing is guaranteed. However, at the moment it is difficult to argue.
With the return of BRUTE robots in today's patch, it feels like we're reliving Season X in an alternate reality. As for what's coming in Chapter 3, I guess we'll have to wait and see!
