New Among Us update adds more roles than just impostor and teammate
Among Us' latest update has just changed the essence of the hugely popular game, with brand new roles now available - Scientist, Engineer, Guardian Angel and Werewolf - along with a whole host of fresh cosmetics.
Ever since Among Us took over the internet, the simple game has defined just two roles: impostors and teammates. This is how Among Us worked for the first three years on the market.
However, today everything has changed. With the November 9th update, Among Us now has more roles than ever before, opening up new ways to play.
Not only that, but a complete overhaul of the cosmetic system. There's a lot to think about here, so here's a full rundown of the latest changes.
All the new Among Us roles and how to play them
Instead of just adding one new one to shake things up, Among Us decided to add four unique roles at once. Scientist, Engineer, Guardian Angel and Werewolf are now available to use as you see fit.
The scientist has a unique buff that allows you to access vital functions at any time. However, this cordless tool needs to be charged while performing certain tasks.
Next up is the Engineer, who can use the vents when they happen to be nearby. This is followed by a guardian angel who can protect any remaining crew member from danger by placing a shield on them.
Last but not least, there's a new role for impostors: the werewolf can disguise himself, appearing on the map like any other crew member.
New System Space Cubes Among Us
An entirely new cosmetic system was also added in the November 9 update. Space Cubes are coming into the game as new cosmetic items that can be unlocked through various forms of currency.
Beans, stars, pods, and experience are earned along the way to completing a specific space cube. They offer new paths to a wide range of visuals, including all of your favorite skins, visors, hats, and more.

Controller Changes
- The "Vent" action is no longer bound to the main action button. To purge air, press V on your keyboard or the right shoulder button on controllers.
- Sabotage is no longer tied to the primary action button. To access the sabotage map, impostors can simply open their map using the Tab key on the keyboard or the left trigger on controllers.
- If you have a specific role, the action for that role is accessed using the F key on your keyboard or the right trigger on controllers. This includes the engineer's ventilation capacity.
Achievements
- Stats that affect your achievements will be saved across all linked platforms (essentially your stats are linked to your Player ID)
- You need to complete the actual action that unlocks this achievement in order to activate it on another platform.
- Explanatory Fake Achievement Example: If you have a swipe 50 card achievement on Steam and want it unlocked on iOS, you will need to complete the swipe card challenge again on iOS to get the achievement.
