Gamescom 2021 Showed Video Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodhunt
Vampire battle royale has been stirring our souls for a long time, and finally, as part of Gamescom 2021, they showed a trailer for the upcoming game and announced the release date for Steam Early Access.
Bloodhunt, the battle royale set in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, revealed new gameplay footage at Gamescom today, highlighting one of the game's factions, as well as a September 7 release date for Early Access. The game takes the mystique of the Masquerade and brings it into a new genre, weaponizing vampires with shotguns and axes, as well as a host of special abilities.
The game takes place on the night streets of Prague and sees you fighting other vampires in small groups. According to the rules of the Masquerade, mortals must not see your dark activities, otherwise you will be punished for your gameplay. However, if you encounter a mortal alone, you can feast on them to restore health. Developer Sharkmob showed off new gameplay footage at Gamescom, highlighting the game's bloodthirsty killing spree.
We announced the game earlier this year and praised its verticality - Bloodhunt encourages you to fight on rooftops, allowing for easy climbing and no fall damage. This verticality was demonstrated in the footage presented at Gamescom and is likely to be a key selling point for the game in the crowded battle royale market.
Vampire: The Masquerade doesn't seem like the most appropriate title to weave into the Battle Royale genre, although once you get past the conventions of the series, it was a pretty solid vampire shooter. After a successful alpha period, the game is now ready to launch in Early Access.
Bloodhunt is coming to PC on September 7th for Early Access.
