Sakurai even admits, "Even I didn't think this day would come." He explains how difficult it was to add this character, stating that "the magic required to make it work in this game... it's impossible!" But of course he found a way.
There was a brief overview of the gameplay for the new character, but Sakurai did not go into detail about the mechanics or new moves. However, he promised he would be back in a few days on October 3rd to reveal more about the new character before Minecraft Live.
Minecraft Steve wasn't the only character to make his way into Smash. Steve's doppelgänger Alex, as well as zombie and enderman, are likely to be different skin options for the character.
Neither Nintendo nor Sakurai have announced a release date for the character, so patience will be vital as more information emerges in the coming days.
