Microsoft Windows 11. All Details about the New Operating System.
Microsoft today held a presentation of its new operating system Windows 11, which is called the next generation system. The video itself can be viewed at the end of the news, but for now let's talk about the innovations of the system.
Microsoft held an online event today dedicated to the Windows operating system. As expected, the software giant has officially unveiled Windows 11, a new version of its platform program. The story about innovations within the framework of the presentation was started by Microsoft Product Director Panos Panay. He noted that the developers paid great attention to simplifying the user interface, improving performance and other important elements.
Windows 11
Windows 11 has been officially unveiled. The operating system is similar to the one that leaked earlier, although there are slight differences. The Start menu is located in the center of the taskbar, there is a separate widget panel.
A significant part of the design decisions used in the Windows 10X interface migrated to Windows 11 to make the look of the OS simpler and more modern.
The system is claimed to have improved work with multiple monitors, increased energy efficiency and adaptation to devices with touch displays. For example, when you turn off the second monitor, all applications that were on it are minimized there. And when you reconnect, they are restored in the same place.
Microsoft has accelerated Windows 11 in most tasks, and the size of updates has decreased by 40%. In this case, the download and installation of updates will go in the background. In addition, it is stated that the novelty is the most secure OS in the family.
Task bar
The taskbar will be different than in the preview build. In particular, there will be a search like in Windows 10X. In addition, new features are expected. Snap Layouts allows you to move any window to the desired area on the screen. And Snap Group will allow you to group together for easier access.
For example, it will be possible to combine into one shortcut on the Word and Photoshop panels. On startup, both programs will start.
Browser, Teams and more
Microsoft Edge introduces horizontal and vertical tabs. And the Teams messenger is now built into the system. This will allow teams to work without unnecessary problems and installation of third-party software.
Games and shops
Windows 11 will support a data loading acceleration mechanism called the DirectStorage API. it will improve the performance of games, as it will allow you to download data directly to the video card, bypassing the CPU. This should speed up the work, although it is not known by how much.
And the branded Xbox application in the new OS will receive an integrated Game Pass and xCloud subscription service for cloud gaming. Thus, it will be possible to play not only on the PC itself, but also in the "cloud".
In addition, there will be support for Android applications that can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Store. The store itself will be updated in design and functionality.
Although it is not yet clear what programs will be there, it can be assumed that all the main ones. And it looks like there will be native support for the Amazon Appstore. This is indicated by the screenshot, although there was no direct statement.
But Google Play, it seems, will not.
OS update
You can upgrade to Windows 11 for free with a license for Windows 10. The release version is scheduled for release in the fall. At the same time, the first preview build of Windows 11 will appear next week.
System Requirements
As it turns out, Windows 11 will only run on 64-bit systems. To run, you need 4 GB of RAM and a DirectX 12-capable graphics card. For comparison, Windows 10 had only 2 GB, while Windows 8/8.1 had 1 GB. Also among the requirements mentioned is a dual-core processor with a frequency of at least 1 GHz and 64 GB of disk space. Thus, on older computers, the system will no longer start.
It is also important to have TPM 2.0 (a hardware module on the motherboard) and Secure Boot (secure boot mode in the BIOS).
Broadcast recording
That's all for now, but we will continue to review the new OS, adding fresh information to this post!
