Xbox Store Leaks Mafia Remaster, Release Date and Screenshots
The Xbox Store seems to have spoiled the big announcement for a remaster of the original Mafia game scheduled for release on August 28, 2020.
On May 10, the Mafia Twitter account suddenly woke up by posting cryptic tweet, which immediately gave food for thought about a remaster or a new game. They then released a teaser for Mafia: Trilogy on May 13, with a full announcement on May 19.
On May 13, it was seen that the Xbox Store was already showing Mafia: Definitive Edition, revealing the list of games and their release date. One odd thing to note is that the game is labeled "E" for everyone - which is highly likely - meaning the game may not have been rated yet.
"Redesigned from the ground up, climb the ranks of the mafia in the age of organized crime prohibition," reads the official description .
“After a run-in with a crowd, taxi driver Tommy Angelo finds himself in a deadly underworld. Initially, it was not easy for him to get into the Salieri crime family, Tommy soon found that the rewards were too great to ignore.
The description also claims that the game has been "accurately recreated" but will feature "expanded story, gameplay, and original score".
The first game was released back in 2002, and new screenshots show how much the graphics quality has improved.
When will Mafia: Definitive Edition be released?
Microsoft Listing Says Mafia Remaster Is Coming 28 August 2020 year.
Presumably that's when the entire Mafia trilogy will be released, as players will get Tom's Suit and The Cabinet in the Mafia II and Mafia III Definitive Editions.
There are no store listings for final releases of Mafia II or III yet. The full announcement on May 19 should reveal more.
