League of Legends returns to number one on Twitch

League of Legends once again established itself as the most played game on Twitch in March 2022, but not by much. The Elden Ring hype is still going strong, while Valorant and Fortnite are slowly catching up with the falling GTA V.

At the end of February Elden Ring became famous on Twitch when a hit from FromSoftware dominated the airwaves. For some time it was the most popular game - it beat every conceivable and unthinkable record.

That growth didn't slow down in March 2022, but the old heavyweights on the streaming platform are still at the helm.

After Lost Ark hit 146 million hours watched in February, League of Legends and GTA V remained strong in March.

According to SullyGnome, the former has regained the crown of the most played game on Twitch with 138,5 million hours watched , up 2,9% from the previous month.

League of Legends regained its place as the most played game on Twitch in March 2022.

However, Elden Ring overtook GTA V in a month, increasing play time from 131,6 million to 127,9 million hours.

The main news of all this, however, is the dramatic fall of Lost Ark. Touted as an MMO with the potential to topple World of Warcraft, the Amazon Games title fell behind Blizzard's stalwarts after viewership dropped 71,9% to just 41 million.

Inspired by the recent Shadowlands Race to World First, which lasted over 18 days, World of Warcraft hit 55,9 million hours watched in March. Now that the race is over, it remains to be seen if he can maintain his lead.

Lost Ark views dropped over 70% in March.

Other notable lifts include Fortnite's 18,9% boom to 72,8 million viewers —likely thanks to the building ban, giving streamers a reason to come back. Valorant also climbed 24% to 110 million viewers, led by former CS:GO pro Tarik "tarik" Celik.

"Just Chatting" is still the most popular category on Twitch, with around 260 million hours watched nearly doubling League of Legends' monthly figures.
