KAY/O Valorant: How to play? Abilities, tips and recommendations.

KAY/O Valorant, instigator agent KAY / O will cut through enemies with ease and help set the stage for your team's duelist to swoop in and take out the enemies. Below is a guide on how to manage this mechanical threat.

As the Valorant saga continues to expand chapter by chapter, Episode 3 introduced KAY/O to battle on Tomorrowland. Bloodthirsty in the style of a real terminator, the instigator robot agent has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with.

Want to make KAY/O your main player in Valorant? We've got a whole bunch of tips and tricks to make sure you're the one who says "hasta la vista, baby" to your opponents.

Valorant KAY/O: Abilities

Riot designed KAY/O to be somewhat familiar to you, but with a fresh coat of Valorant paint. So when you see his abilities, many of them will be very similar to other FPS shooters, with stun grenades, frag grenades and more, he is deadly in the right hands.

  • Ability 1 - FRAG/CENT (200 credits) : LOAD the explosive fragment. FIRE throw. The shard sticks to the floor and explodes multiple times, dealing near-fatal damage in the center with each explosion.
  • Ability 2 - LIGHT/FLASH GRENADE (250 credits) : EQUIP a stun grenade. FIRE throw. The stun grenade explodes after a short fuse, blinding everyone in line of sight.
    • Right-clicking on a flashbang will eject an instant charged flare, causing it to explode in just 1 second, as opposed to left-clicking to throw a flare that takes 1,6 seconds to cook up.
  • Signature Ability - EPI/CENTER (1 Free) : EQUIP suppression blade. FIRE throw. The blade sticks to the first surface it hits, spinning around and overwhelming everyone in the blast radius.
  • Ultimate Ability - NULL/CMD (Seven points) : IMMEDIATELY overload with polarized radianite energy that amplifies KAY/O and causes large energy pulses to radiate from its location. Enemies hit by these pulses are suppressed for a short time.
    • During overload, KAY/O gains a combat stimulus.
    • If KAY/O is killed while overloaded, he falls and enters a destabilized state, allowing allies to stabilize his core and revive him. When downed, he has 850 HP.

Perhaps the most dangerous piece of KAY/O's equipment is his EPI/CENTER suppression knife. Thanks to the ability to block agents from using abilities, even if they pass through the wall.

Also, his ultimate allows him to resurrect if he gets killed. Falling down with 850 HP, allies can stabilize his core and get him back on his feet, two of the most powerful tools in your arsenal.

How to play as KAY/O in Valorant:

While KAY/O's abilities may not seem like the most revolutionary, he has the power to change the game in the right hands. As we can see above, his FRAG/CENT grenade deals three bursts of damage and is also near-lethal if the player hits the middle. Throw this at chokepoints to hold back an enemy advance, or if they're all grouped together to cause total chaos.

However, all eyes are on this EPI/CENTER suppression blade. With dual functionality, it can be an ideal tool for both reconnaissance and suppression of enemies. Any enemies caught in the suppression zone will be highlighted to your teammates, so you let them know exactly which agents are easy prey. Again, it's best to throw it at a narrow spot or a popular spot on the map.

Also, if you know a large group is about to charge at you, throwing out a knife will overwhelm them all, meaning they'll have to rely on their weapon skills to get out alive.

Finally, his ult can decide the outcome of the fight or interrupt it. In addition to suppressing him, KAY/O has the ability to be "knocked down" with 850 health while he waits to respawn. If picked up by a teammate, he can return to battle with up to 100 health. Acting as the perfect buffer, you don't have to worry about changing it just to give the enemy team another kill.
