How to play Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel - Beginner's Guide

This guide will attempt to provide new or potential Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel tutorial information and tips about the economy of the game from a F2P player's point of view.

Yu-Gi-Oh! has been around for many, many years now and a lot of new mechanics and effects have been implemented and there are long combos/cooldowns just like any other TCG. The Dark Mage and Blue Eyed White Dragon decks that everyone remembers from the 2000s are no longer viable, but you can play highly competitive Dark Mage and Blue Eyed White Dragon decks with modern mechanics. As of now (January 2022), the last increase in these decks was in October-December 2021.

Gems Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

The first thing to start with is information about the main currency of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. With gems, you can open packs and other items in the shop. You get gems by leveling up your account, completing missions, leveling up a duel pass and buying them with money.

As a new player, you will get a LOT of gems thanks to the beginner missions. Don't spend them right away, even if you reach the 10k gems limit. You will be able to collect more gems using the "Gifts" button.

The first thing you have to buy with these gems is a duel pass, which costs 600 gems. This is a typical Battle Pass with a nice twist: you get your 600 gems back while you level up. With the duel pass, you will get a large amount of resources and useful things, and you should always save 600 gems in your account to buy the next battle pass when the time is right.

By the way, for the convenience of the game, you can install a crack, which will ease the confusion with the commands and all the inscriptions of the game. Try to translate the game following this link.

Shop and Bundles Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

There are three regular packs available in the store: two time-limited packs and the Master Pack. Never buy from the Master Pack as it already has all the cards available and it's almost impossible to get what you want.

Secret Packs are your main source of cards, but you won't be able to see them in the shop at first. These packs include all cards of a certain archetype with some fillers. For example, the Secret Set of Cosmic Mechanical Entities includes Crawlers, Mekk Knights, and Knights. You need to unlock them. I'll explain how this works in the Mapping section.

The bonus package is a nice filler that can only be unlocked by spending tickets. You get these tickets by participating in duels or completing missions. Open them when you have them, they are free!

Should you buy Structure decks?

Here we will start directly with the decks themselves. There are three types of cards in Yugyo: monstersspells и traps. In the current realities, the emphasis is on monsters, While the spells help you use them to their full potential. Traps are considered very slow for the meta and are rarely used anywhere, so the best of them are either completely imm cards that prevent your opponent from playing the game (for example, Imperial Order or Vanity's Emptiness), or which can greatly affect the overall outcome (Infinite ImpermanenceEvenly MatchedTorrential Tribute etc.).

The deck itself includes from 40 to 60 cards in main deck and up to 15 cards per Extra deck, the number of each individual card does not exceed 3 pieces (if they are not in banliste). Plain Main deck includes about 15 staples (cards that can be put in almost any deck) (Ash Blossom, Infinite ImpermanenceMaxx C etc.), Extra deck can vary from 3 to 5-6 staples (Knightmare PhoenixKnightmare UnicornAccess code talker etc.), the rest of the deck will consist of those cards that you want to play, the same blue eyes they can play like this.

Returning to the question of whether to buy Structured decks, I will say this - it all depends on you! If you are interested in the archetype, you can get many useful cards at once for 500 gems. The downside is that you only get one copy of each card, and that's the reason they can be bought three times. The good thing is that you will also unlock the Secret Set for the specified archetype, as you will receive SR and UR cards.

Map Creation and Secret Bundles

Map making is what, in my opinion, makes Master Duel a good F2P game. You will be able to craft any specific card you want as long as you have Crafting Points (CP) available.

Crafting points are divided by rarity (N, R, SR and UR, just like cards). For example, if you want to craft an UR card, you will only spend points for crafting the UR. These Crafting Points are obtained by leveling up the Duel Pass, completing missions, and dismantling cards you don't need. This is very intuitive.

Crafting any card costs 30 CP, regardless of rarity, and dismantling a card will give you 10 CP. Therefore, you usually dismantle three cards to create one.

The exception to this rule are glossy cards and royal finish cards, which are cosmetic effects on your cards. If you break a Glossy card you will get 15 CP, and a Royal Finish card will give you 30 CP. There is a chance to get these special cards when opening or creating decks.

But you won't always have enough CP to craft the cards you need. When this happens, your only solution is to open the packs. So which one do you need to open?

The first answer to this question isNot the main package“. The cards themselves will answer the second question. Let's say we want to create a Cyber Dragon deck from scratch. Where do I begin? Let's look for a card from this deck, in this case the Cyber Dragon Nova. At the bottom of the selected card, there's a nice button called "How To Get" that tells you which deck the card is in.

As you can see, you can get Cyber Dragon Nova from the Pearlescent Cyber Dragons Secret Pack. As I mentioned in the Secret Bundles section, these sets include all the cards of a certain archetype. So, now that we know that we can get all the Cyber Dragon related cards from this Secret Set, we only need to unlock it.

To unlock the Secret Pack, you just need to create an SR or UR card from the Secret Pack you want to unlock. By doing this, we make the Secret Pack appear in the store within 24 hours and you can start extracting it. After 24 hours, the Secret Pack will disappear from the store and you will need to unlock it again.

  • Note: This is not the only way to unlock Secret Packs, but it is the easiest. You can also unlock them when you get SR or UR cards from other bundles or complete Single Player Campaigns.

Tips

  • Buy a duel pass with your starting gems. It has insane value and you only have to fight other players to complete it, no specific missions or anything. Remember that the Duel Pass will refund you the 600 Gems you used to purchase it, so always save 600 Gems to get the Duel Pass!
  • Complete Single Player Campaigns. They give you starter decks, gems, account experience, and help you complete beginner missions.
  • Read the cards. Take your time, the turn time is long, so you have time to read what your opponent is doing. Never attack blindly.
  • Explore on your own. As a beginner, look for archetypes or playstyles that you enjoy. Watch the videos and read about them to decide what interests you. In my case, I chose Cyber Dragons as they were my favorite back in the day, and I made a competitive deck with the starting resources the game gave me on the second day.
  • When unpacking, always take out 10 pieces at once. The SR and UR guarantees apply in this direction. This is written in the “Details” > “Important Notes” section on each deck.
  • Plan your resources carefully. Keep track of your CPs. You know that crafting one card costs 30 CP, and dismantling a basic foil card gives you 10. Do math, use a calculator. Plan what you can create and what you can't, which card has priority and which doesn't. Save your CPS to unlock the Secret Pack and spend the required gems in those 24 hours. The first week you will be inundated with gems, but after that you will start getting less. Again, be careful and plan your spending.
  • Don't get discouraged when your opponent throws you a 3-minute combo on your first turn and beats you in your first ranked match. We've all been in that situation. Learn about cards that negate your opponent's effects and plan to get them. Again, research on your own and watch videos on how to use or how to fight certain decks. For me, this is one of the best things about Yu-Gi-Oh! it is the creation of a theory.
  • Losing doesn't mean your deck isn't working. Strategy is very different from luck, and in TCG games you always need luck. If you're unlucky today and your opponent is on horseback, it's not your fault. This happens and tomorrow you will change places.

Conclusion

I hope you find this guide informative, and I hope you enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Master thanks to this explanation. Yu-Gi-Oh! this is an amazing TCG that has been neglected in the digital realm for a long time and I really wish this game would succeed and get recognition like that of Hearthstone.

Now go to the game and become the Card King!
