Spider-Man 2 will be released in 2023
Following the success of Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sony and Insomniac today unveiled the next installment in the award-winning video game series, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, due out in 2.
The trailer contained little specific information. We see very short gameplay sequences in which Miles uses his electrified venom powers, as well as separate fight scenes with Peter fighting in a suit that appears to be inspired by the Iron Spider suit from the comics. And in one particularly intriguing moment that is sure to spark a lot of speculation about the possibility of playing together, we see Peter and Miles working together to take down the enemy.
The trailer also features the voice of a man who appears to be looking for a challenge in his confrontation with the two Spider-Man heroes, and based on the fiction, it's likely that the voice could have come from Kraven the Hunter.
Finally, in one of the highlights of the video, the final scene shows a very brief look at Venom that is sure to cause all sorts of problems for webmasters.
Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man: Miles Morales were blockbuster releases for Sony and Insomniac, receiving both critical and commercial success rarely seen from licensed game properties. Given that, the reveal of Spider-Man 2 isn't unexpected, but it's certainly welcome news. The game is undeniably built from the ground up to make the most of the PlayStation 5's technological capabilities, and Insomniac has proven itself to be very capable of squeezing the juice out of an already impressive machine.
The news follows the announcement of yet another Marvel property on the way from Insomniac, as the developer also prepares its take on everyone's favorite clawed mutant. Wolverine .
We'll be following the development of Spider-Man 2 with great interest ahead of launch.
