Half-Life: Alyx VR - First Trailer and Release Date
Valve showed the first trailer for the latest part of the series Half-Life, which will be designed for VR headsets. The game will feature the story of Alyx Vance, a character known from the previous installment. Its launch is scheduled for March 2020.
According to the latest announcement, we've just had a chance to see for the first time a new game in the Half-Life series designed for VR headsets called Half-Life: Alyx. The game will be dedicated to the famous Alyx Vance, who first appeared in the second part of the series. The launch of the title is scheduled for March 2020.
The story will take place between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2. Valve Software is responsible for developing the game, and the title will be on sale on Steam for an introductory price of $53.99 ($59.99 at launch). Most importantly, we won't be able to play Half-Life: Alyx without a VR device. However, the game will be compatible with most models available on the market. All this was created from scratch with virtual reality in mind. The developer says that playing without a special device doesn't make much sense because it will deprive the game of its key components.
The adventure in the new Half-Life game should last the same as in the second part of the series (about 13-15 hours of gameplay). The good news is that Valve is going to provide the community with the tools to create custom levels for the game. We know very well that this can lead to more amazing fan-made works. Perhaps even some group will be tempted to create a fan version of Half-Life 3 or a remake of previous parts in virtual reality? Finally, take a look at the official hardware requirements for Half-Life: Alyx.
