Guild Wars 2 Coming To Steam Next Week
Finally, ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 will release on Steam in the coming days, marking the first release of the beloved MMORPG on a third-party platform.
Since its release 10 years ago in 2012, Guild Wars 2 has remained exclusive and only available through its own launcher. Developer ArenaNet set out to change that a couple of years ago, announcing in August 2020 that the Guild Wars sequel would hit Steam this November.
Shortly thereafter, such plans were changed and ArenaNet indefinitely delayed the game's deployment to Steam to instead focus on development of the expansion. End of Dragons.
However, the studio has not abandoned Steam completely. In fact, the migration of Guild Wars 2 to another platform will happen sooner than players expect.
Guild Wars 2 is finally coming to Steam later this month
Today, August 16th, ArenaNet has confirmed that Guild Wars 2 will release on Valve's PC platform on Tuesday, August 23rd.
The Complete Guild Wars 2 Collection Coming To Steam With Upcoming Launch, Cost £86,97 / $104,56. After collecting the first 10 years of experience, the bundle is packed into all five seasons of the episodic Living World.
Additionally, those who purchase the collection can expect each expansion to also include Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, and End of Dragons.
When ArenaNet originally announced the 2020 Steam version, it came with the caveat that existing players would not be able to migrate their accounts. This apparently remains in place two years later.
The game's debut on Steam also marks the first time it supports Twitch Drops, which users can earn by watching streamers play Guild Wars 2 on Twitch. Rewards consist of classic outfits, XP boosters, and exclusive Glowing Purple Mask cosmetics.
ArenaNet plans to run its first Twitch Drop campaign from August 23rd to 28th.
