GTA V Coming Free on the Epic Games Store

According to reports, Grand Theft Auto V will be available for free on the Epic Games Store starting May 14 for a limited time.

GamePressure reports that, according to a "trusted source", they have been informed that Rockstar's 2013 global hit will be completely free to download and play starting Thursday, May 14th.

Epic Games often offers these free promotional offers, although they tend to be smaller, less well-known than GTA 5.

But, if the rumors are true, you'll be able to grab a free copy of GTA 5 on the Epic Games Store very soon, with the offer running through the week until May 21st.

What's more, the version of the game they're giving away will be the Premium Edition, which not only has access to GTA Online, but also loads of additional game content. Epic Games themselves released the next free-to-play game on May 7th, so it's likely they're gearing up for something bigger than usual.

Once you add a game to your library, it stays there forever, as is the case with all other free Epic Games Store offerings.

GTA Online Boost or advertising for GTA 6?

As Gamepressure points out, the free release of such a popular game is surprising because GTA 5 still sells millions of copies every year despite being almost eight years old.

This will inevitably spark all sorts of GTA 6 reveal rumors, but it's unlikely to happen anytime soon - depending on which leaker you ask.

This is most likely an incentive for people who haven't tried GTA Online yet to get into the mode, which is a huge cash cow for Rockstar.

В 2019 GTA 5 generated $595 million in digital revenue , indicating no signs of slowing down.

It's also a way for Epic Games to bring even more users to their launch program, which has been under fire since launch as players have complained about exclusives and the lack of certain features.
